Customer Review: Nearly Perfect
After a while of checking out the different GPS I bought this product for touring on my bike, and recently used it while in the Lake District. It dose what it says on the box,a good piece of kit-very reliable.
Things they should fix for the next version of Rider are.. The On/Off Button..A verbal warning telling you the battery is getting low.. And some sort of light on the GPS or charger showing the system is on charge or is fully charged. If your doing a lot of touring i would advise using the cable provided to connect it to your bike battery.

Customer Review: Ace piece of kit
Basically i initially bought the TomTom 500, recieved it and could tell it was a return so i sent it back (not from amazon) so i had to look for an alternative, glad i did as this baby is amazing. Well what can i say, its slim, lovely design. Bluetooth set up as a doddle, simple to use, recieving calls is superb through it, no glitches, saved me alot on buying a bluetooth reciever (dont like the headsets) I recieved a text message through and it started reading it to me, i was shocked by it, i didnt know it had that feature. Its so much easier to type in an address, well you dont type it in just tell it the place you want to go and it finds it, tell it the number and you are away, so easy, alot less fiddly. So many choices of sounds and pictures for the display, alot better than a garmin or anyother sat nav available. Well worth the money, wouldnt suggest getitng another one, this one is so ideal for use in car with the bluetooth feature, oh and i forgot to mention the FM Transmitter, as it has built in memory, store your mp3s on there and transmit them to the radio, or evan buy another SD card and loads more mp3s. Only problem is the FM transmitter when driving can become fiddly if you go through a town with the signal being used, not usually a problem if you know how the car works
Well worth the investment, if you consider TomTom One ?149 bluetooth reciever ?39.99 FM Transmitter ?59.99
Customer Review: Problematic
The 520 looks great on paper however when I connected it to an Imac it wouldn’t initially work. The support from Tomtom in next to useless and they seem to be closed at weekends - website support unavailable and no phone support. I have now returned the item after trying for 3 days to get it working…. Replacement now seems to work fairly well on a G5 mac. Still a couple of major issues. ‘Browse Map’ doesn’t work properly. When I try to move a map, the view suddenly zooms in fully then I am instantly taken to other random menus where it can, and has, changed important preferences. Also the voice recognition sometimes recognises the internal TomTom confirmation voice and adds unwanted information to the destination. Now returning this item for a second time. On a lighter note, this is the first occasion in over 10 years that I’ve returned anything to Amazon and returns procedure/policy is excellent.

I certainly would not, therefore by purchasing a mains charger today, you will never face this problem again. Always have a fully charged ready to use Tom Tom before your journey.
TomTom RDS/TMC Reciever for Go 510, 710 and 910 models
The TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver gets traffic information on the go, to your GO. For the one-off cost of the receiver you can get traffic updates and let your GO reroute you around congestion. By simply connecting the TomTom GO (510-710-910) device to the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver, you will automatically receive traffic information via the TMC connection. Once a journey is planned, traffic alerts which relate to the route are clearly displayed in the traffic bar on the right hand side of the screen. When the you tap an icon shown in the traffic bar, you will receive further information, such as the cause or kind of delay to traffic, such as an accident or traffic jam. RDS-TMC is available in: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom. This accessory requires at least version 6.51 of the TomTom application. Connect your GO to your computer and use TomTom HOME to update your application automatically and for free
Customer Review: Newly bought aerial picks up signal well.
This aerial is actually compatible with the Tom Tom Go (v3), the non-XL version. This is currently not mentioned anywhere on the TomTom website, although customer services say the website will be updated to reflect this. I have the aerial mounted vertically and it quickly picks up signal at my home and work, both in London. I have yet to try it on a journey. It quickly picks up around 40-100 different traffic issues, all in the South-East (presumably because I’m using it in London). Although I’ve yet to verify it, it seems to underestimate the delay due to each issue, e.g. it regularly says a traffic delay will take “1 minute” although e.g. AA roadwatch reports 20 minutes delay. Unfortunately you don’t get much control over the routing algorithm - you can either avoid all traffic, however long that takes, or stick to the fastest route. You can’t tell it (for example) that you quite dislike traffic, but not to choose a different route if it adds more than 20 minutes to your total journey. Like most of the TomTom software, it seems to be optimized for easy use at the expense of detailed control. One other general complaint about the TomTom algorithms is they don’t take time-of-day into account (this with software v7.1). They say south London to Banbury, through the centre of London, takes 1 minute 39, regardless of whether I ask at 1am or 7am. At 7am, it would be much higher. The algorithm should really consider time of day and realise that urban roads are slower at these times.
Customer Review: TomTOm RDS/TMC Receiver
DON’T BOTHER!!!!!! This is the most useless thing I have ever used. I can only say thank god i did’nt pay good money for it as it came with my Go510. I drive 30000 miles a year and have had it for nearly a year and its only ever tuned in twice and thats to Classic FM! Not exactly the first choice for traffic info! I’ve spent more time in traffic holdups than ever and now rely on radio reports which use RDS to interupt what i’m listening to, to give me traffic info from local radio stations. Far more helpful.
