Customer Review: SIMPLY TO USE. FEW POINTS FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW.
Firstly, this machine does not have a HARD DRIVE at all. Anyone who says it has has a different model number to this one. Regarding the only 2 hours recording thim this DVD has the facility to record EP which is 6hours play on DVD or 10hours on DLayer disc. Refer to pg 42 of manual and pg 23 for all settings. To operate these on the on creen display press the rec mode on the remote near 3 red record buttons on remote. It will show on screen when you repeatedly press rec mode on remote. A cute feature on this is when you are selecting programmes to record on the TV menu the machine will tell you if there is not enough room on disk to copy programmes it on. So then you just select the rec mode and in it corrected. As for the EPG update at 3-4 pm i found that if you put machine in total shut off mode i.e.(no time displayed at all) then the noise is not as bad. The first programme i recorded i had to power the machine up to see if it had stated to copy or not as nothing lit up on the display, my other Sony actually started up but this one does not. Great for the planet eh. Much more user friendly than my old Sony and I love the fact that you can start to watch something after you have started to record it. Say the phone goes so you start to record Corra, you can then start to watch it when phone call ends. You select title list and it will show you what you are recording then select enter and then select play from beginning, you watch start of show and the DVD finishes recording the end of Corra. Very clever indeed. Great machine, would recommend it to anyone. You’ll love it. So simple to use. Wrighty

I got this a couple of weeks ago and have subsequently realised that this is a good deal amongst all the different versions around at the moment. It is a TomTom euro “New Edition” but what TomTom call V4 meaning it has 1GB of internal memory making it compatible with future 3rd Ed upgrades but also has an empty SD card slot, meaning for the price of a 2GB SD card you can double the expansion memory space. It also comes with new maps and good inbuilt points of interest. It also retains bluetooth capability.
My advice, for what it is worth, is to keep the bundled operating system and get TomTom “home” 1.5 with this unit, because the forums report lots of problems with the new 3rd edition navigation software and home 2.0.
Given that you have to get a carry case anyway, this seems a very decent price and has performed perfectly for me so far (with the proviso that I have resisted the buggy upgrades suggested when you connect it to the PC via TomTom home).

Still delighted with this.

Yes it’s a shame it doesn’t have two tuners, and USB would be better than SD (which I don’t use), I can’t get it to read MP3 from a DVD-RW, and I agree it would be nice to be able to record two things at once (I can’t help pushing things). But considering how flexible it is, it is fairly easy to drive, the quality is good and excellent value. It’s playing my CDs (including the MP3s), archiving my old VHS tapes to DVD (trimmed & tidied), and regularly used in ‘chasing playback’ mode to skip commercials and pause the TV.

Customer Review: Quality Piece of Kit
I have had one for a week, and I am very pleased with it.

The build quality is very high. It was a surprise to see it was made in Slovakia, which is not a country I associate with high-tech manufacture. Maybe it is time to change my perception of that land.

It is a boon to have so much in one box, DVD, VHS, HDD, Freeview, even an SD card slot. It has done away with three machines, and cut down on the snake’s honeymoon of mains, ariel and scart leads. This is a good way of justifying the expense to a houseproud partner!

It is fairly easy to use. The instructions are easy to follow, and it has ‘contextual intelligence’. By that I mean, if you insert a pre-recorded DVD, it assumes you want to play it, if you insert an SD card, it asks if you want a slide show or to copy photos to the HDD.

One potential problem with this machine is that it only has one tuner. If your TV is analog and you aren’t planning to upgrade it before the switch off, you will lose the facility to watch something and record something else when they switch off the analog transmitters. You have to be a bit canny to make sure you are future proof. I am OK with it, my telly has integral freeview.

It can copy to and from any of its drives, but will not touch copy protected stuff like pre-recorded DVDs and tapes.

I am happy with the machine. I would say its main facilities are the ‘all in one’ nature, the quality and the huge HDD.

Customer Review: Misleading features
First the good news: quiet in operation; good quality reproduction at LP speed (4 hours can be saved to DVD-R); attractive; RGB output. Minor bad news: cannot splice two programmes together; editing commands slow to respond; difficult to load MP3 files onto HDD. However, it has a major fault: several features such as automatic chaptering, watching a programme currently recording, or watching one previously recorded programme while recording another — will not work during timer recordings. As most recordings are based on the timer, this is such a significant failing (not mentioned in the promotional information) that in essence these features are unavailable. I am returning it to Amazon.

Spent a month researching the Internet looking for a DVD burner that would connect to my SKY+ box for archiving purposes. I had a budget of ?250 and was worried by some of the reviews on DVD burners that promised a lot of flexibility and compatibility but did not deliver. I decided on this burner because; 1. The price. 2. That it can play & record on a wide range of DVD’s. 3. Has a good size hard drive to store/edit. 4. Has Freeview (giving me another source of recording apart from the 2 SKY+). PROS: The box arrived promptly and securely packaged. The burner connected to my existing hardware quickly. The menu system is straightforward. The disk space is 160Gigs. One can setup the burner to wait for a signal from the SKY+ box stating that it’s about to start copying i.e. setup all the programs you want to copy over and do this over night. I thought the editing process straightforward. CONS: After 8 hours of copying the burner starts a new file on the disk drive, so you don’t loose anything but this could result in a selection of titles one wants to keep together being split. The remote has lots of buttons. SUMMARY: Smart sturdy box ideal for archiving SKY+.

* The Freeview digital tuner images are great (no analogue tuner at all - unlike the earlier EZ45 model I bought for my Mum).

* Electronic Program Guide (EPG) can be configured to remember programs for quick start-up (unlike my Humax).

* Video and DVD images are crisp.

* DVD records and plays every option imaginable (+R, -R, +RW, -RW, DL & RAM - RAM is most flexible).

* It’s great for copying home video into DVD, either from VHS or direct from your camcorder via a DV socket.

Bad

* Most commercial video is Macrovision encoded and this device deliberately stops you copying them to DVD - even from an external source.

* Menu and Titling options on home burnt DVDs are not as flexible as I’d like.

* No SD Card input which the earlier EZ45 model had.

* Remote control crowded and hard to find all the options.

Customer Review: Good dvd recorder -Value for money.
If you are thinking about buying a dvd recorder - get one with a ‘built in’ digital receiver (like this one). The images and recordings are great with this machine. You can record using the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), which lists programmes up to 8 days in advance. The fan is a little noticeable, but nowhere near as bad as previous reviews have complained. It also records in most disk formats. Note that the DVD-R/RW & the DVD+R formats must be finalised before you can use the disk on another machine(same for all recorders - bit annoying). The DVD+RW format does not require to be finalised before playing on another DVD player/recorder, therefore this is the best format for frequent use. I would recommened this recorder as it represents good value for money. Steer clear of machines that dont have built in digital receivers. Machines without digital receivers will only record the 1-5 analogue channels and the recordings will depend on the quality of your current reception.

Came to Amazon when let down by smaller suppliers and as ever Amazon proved reliable and efficient. (N.B. this TV was ?400 pre Xmas!!)

The TV itself is great, albeit the freeview as mentioned can be grainy and the response time of the remote is slow. However watching tv through the sky+ digibox is as good a picture as my old panansonic CRT once we got the settings sorted out, which can be fiddly, and the gamer mode in HD for the XBOX 360 is incredible - Call of Duty 4 is scary!!

Overall a great little TV and for the money as good as anything around - we did our research.

I have had the TV for about 3 weeks. It already feels like a member of the family! The picture quality is great. Sound quality is fine, though the bass does boom with some inputs. My only real complaintis the menu lag. There is no shortcut for scrolling through the sources you plug into it - instead you will have to click the source button 6 times to get to the DVD player in the sixth slot etc. This gets tiresome really quickly. The only other caution is that you’ll find that once you upgrade from an old style CRT tube television to a hi-def LCD, you suddenly want to plug other HD stuff into it. It really brings out the flaws in an ordinary DVD, or even the Wii which looked better on a CRT. This leads to a need for PS3 with Blu-Ray, a surround sound amp & speakers, and, crucially, good wiring. But then again, this is the curse of upgrading any of your kit! Happy viewing. For the money this set is excellent.
Customer Review: A chance to dispell some HDTV myths and wives tales
This isnt going to be a complete and exhaustive review for this set as I havent yet had the time to go into any sort of testing process with the set I have just bought (literally just hours ago). However, in just these few hours I have managed to completely dispell some of the myths surrounding HDTV and this tv is particular and confirm some others. Here they are: 1) Will my ps2/xbox/gamecube look rubbish on this screen Answ: Depends on what you consider rubbish and also what game you put in. Some games, like FIFA 08 that dont seem to offer progressive output and so the display doesnt look great. Its like playing a pc game in 800×600 on a native 1440×900 pc display - its the same kinda thing. However, games like resident evil 4, gran turismo, WRC rally evolved and toca 3 look either improved or just slightly less good than standard tv. I have my ps2 connected with the component cables, dont connect through composite! The picture is truly bad! 2) Is the menu and channel response time slow? Answ: Not really and yes, channels can take 3 to 4 seconds to change on the inbuilt freeview, the menu system is a little unresponsive but taking no more than a second to do anything. It just seems a little laggy but can be forgiven as its very user friendly and looks good. 3) Can I use another set-top box for freeview on this tv? Answ: Yes! You dont have to put up with the laggy inbuilt one on this. Plug another set top box in through the scart and just select the scart input from the connections menu. You could even have 2 set top boxes plugged in if you really wanted! Oh one thing to note with the freeview on this tv, it didnt find that many channels for me whereas my set top box found 4 times as many. Dont know whether the sensitivity is lacking. 4)Is the sound really that bad? Answ: No not at all. I havent even turned it up to maximum yet but on about 60% it is loud enough for the neighbours next door to here through the wall (on a quiet day). Assuming just background noise in your house, 35% or above will be enough. The speakers seem to be fine, no distortion, not absolutely amazing but thats to be expected! But as good as any other tv speakers, if not a bit better. 5)Is the picture quality good? Answ: A distinct improvement from CRT tvs in standard resolution (i.e. freeview) with a cleaner image and better refresh rate. I havent tried HD yet but I imagine it will be fantastic. A good bonus about this tv is its picture in picture. You can play your games and have the tv on in the corner too so if you are waiting for something to comoe on, you know when its about to begin, Handy! No complaints about this tv so far. 5/5 stars no problem!

Customer Review: More than just black !
Whenever you read about this TV people will always bang on about the black levels. This is because flat screen TVs find deep black hard to produce .There is so much more to this TV than black levels . This is my first flat panel tv, simply because I have never seen a TV that can produce an image as good as a CRT tube TV, so i could never bring myself to spend over a grand for a TV that wasn’t as good as the TV I already had. This plasma is just like a big tube telly, the pictures are truly mesmerising. They are just so natural and sharp. I only watch free view so I just wanted a TV that would simply give me the best freeview picture. I think HD is a con. You shouldn’t have to pay extra for better quality pictures. HD is so important to so many manufacturers because HD is the only way you will get a decent picture from their product worthy of a CRT TV. I have seen a ?3000 Sony LCD playing HD content and it still didn’t look as natural as this! The sound is excellent for general viewing with lots base for films. I know its expensive but you have the reassurance of that there is nothing better.

Well however you feel about the price this is without doubt the best for black level you will find. Wow the picture good, fabulous colours and black that you can almost feel. Set this up with a good sound system and you will enjoy every minute. Looks great on or off the piano black frame is very smart and modern in a retro kind of way. Be warned though this finish is very soft and will scratch even if you just use the wrong type of cloth to wipe it. So if you have sticky fingered children about choose something else! Last there is the price - if you want the latest and in this case I think the best you are going to have to pay for it prices are falling but there will, I am sure, always be a Pioneer premium. Overall, best ever - I think so!

Customer Review: Great tv, but is the euro version
I bought this tv last week, as my father has a 42wlt66, which apart from slow remote response are both excellent tvs. Yes this is a euro version, but it does not affect use in the uk, as you just select english language. Ive set up freeview no problems and red button interactive works fine. For the price i dont mind its not a full uk version. End of the day we are part of the eu and have the normal warranty via amazon. Back to the tv, sd signals are great, much better than a cheap tft i had recently, and i use an xbox360 and it looks fantastic, the tv will accept a 1080p signal but as it is not a true 1080 screen it will be downscaled, i cannot make out any difference between 720i 1080i 1080p for games. Improvement over the wlt66 is that you can press ok to get straight into the input selection menu. The swivel stand is great but it does poke out quite a bit. Overall very impressive 32″ at a good price, what sold it to me was 3 hdmi ports and 100hz.
Customer Review: Beware ‘PG’ model in UK
Beware of this product as according to Toshiba UK the PG means it is meant for the French market not the UK, affecting set-up and access to services e.g. interactive ‘red button’ The carrier also says there is a large F stamped on the box which people believe means Freeview but it would appear probably means France! They have had reports from people that they can’t get the TV to work properly. 32WLT68 is a superb TV but 32WLT68PG is not ,in the UK!

I got this a couple of weeks ago and have subsequently realised that this is a good deal amongst all the different versions around at the moment. It is a TomTom euro “New Edition” but what TomTom call V4 meaning it has 1GB of internal memory making it compatible with future 3rd Ed upgrades but also has an empty SD card slot, meaning for the price of a 2GB SD card you can double the expansion memory space. It also comes with new maps and good inbuilt points of interest. It also retains bluetooth capability.
My advice, for what it is worth, is to keep the bundled operating system and get TomTom “home” 1.5 with this unit, because the forums report lots of problems with the new 3rd edition navigation software and home 2.0.
Given that you have to get a carry case anyway, this seems a very decent price and has performed perfectly for me so far (with the proviso that I have resisted the buggy upgrades suggested when you connect it to the PC via TomTom home).

I think some of the bad reviews are being a bit harsh. Remember SAT NAV is just a map like any other map, albeit electronic. If you are using a paper map which displays two-ways on a now one-way road, you use your judgment as an intelligent person and choose not to go down that road. From this you learn that obviously your map is out of date and likewise the maps in the TOM TOM can become out of date as streets change. Most people want to sit back and let the TOM TOM do the driving. If that is your attitude then of course you will be disappointed. Remember that this is a tool to make your journey and finding your way easier than always referring to a map. The benefits of this little device far outweigh the negatives.
Customer Review: great but
This is an invaluable piece of kit to anyone who travels a lot helps you avoid those painfull traffic jams as well. Two slight down sides one when travelling on the motorway its almost impossible to hold a telephone conversation as you cant hear what the caller is saying,although is fine on normal roads doing normal speeds. If the tom tom has been very heavily used occasionally one has to remove the card and reset the device. Iwould not want to be without my tom tom when travelling in or to unfamilar districts.

My mate got me this for my tomtom, and it is amazing! I live in london and so tall buildings tend to mean weak receptiona and the tomtom go 910 i have takes a while to get a signal (without the antenna). So my mate got me one and it gives such better reception! I get a signal much more quickly, the tomtom can see more satellites and never seems to lose the signal! Its definatly essential for city driving, as there have been a few times i’ve driven about in central london and my tomtom has thought im on a parallel road to where i am. But that just doesnt happen anymore. This product is cheap and improves signal immensly. The wire is a bit long, but thats better than being too short!

I bought one of these arials for my TomTom GO 700 and the reception went from dodgy in many places to full bars almost everywhere, and quicker startup, even in central London and traveling around mountain areas in Wales. I’ve recently got a TomTom GO 910 as my wife and I got to the stage when we both wanted the satnav on the same day. With our car, the TomTom GO 910 has poor reception everywhere, although in several other cars we’ve tried it in, the reception is perfect, so I’m buying the arial for the 910 now and am assuming it’ll do the same good job. It’s good the TomTom Go comes with a microphone as standard, as that’s making a big difference for phone calls - I don’t take calls when I’m driving, but having hands free is better for calls than using the mobile phone set - especially on a long call. The bluetooth for the TomTom GO 910 is also good as directions (and mp3 files output, and text messages being read out) are now coming out of the car hi-fi as luckily the car hi-fi has got bluetooth input. It’s 4 stars as it works fine - I just wish it came with the 910 as standard for the price you pay

Customer Review: Useful accessory
Keeping your Tomtom together and easily accessiible is a very good idea. The Deluxe bag is well made and does what it is intended. However it could have been made a trifle larger as niether the two pockets take the instruction book - the zips are simply not wide enough. I also think an exta pocke could have been easily designed into it for carrying small items - keys etc… and the adjustable strap also needs a shoulder pad to prevent slipping. I also think the use of logos is unecessary and invites crime. But I can understand why the manufacturer is proud to use it on his products. Perhaps a camera gadget bag would be more discrete? But the deluxe bag is really an essential part of the mobility of the Tomtom when you leave the car. I just think the fastening front closing flap is a bit cumbersome to use quickly inside the car when getting out in the usual hurry. So I give it three stars for simplicity of use and four stars for necessity.

I had an 2nd gen ipod nano which obviously came with these earphones, it was only a few months before they lost the bass i think, and from there on out they just fell apart, the wires started showing at certain areas - which may have been to misuse, but still, if they are priced at ?20 you would expect better durability.

They lasted 6 months and i bought some new ones which were far better.

Unfortunatly my ipod got stolen - now i hav a 3rd gen nano, but with these earphones, and i instantly noticed the difference in sound quality, the pair i actually bought were the same price as these ones in the shop, but far better.

If you just want people to know you’re listening to an ipod buy these. If you want quality, then DON’T.

One Pence? You cant even buy sweets for that these days… And they arrived quickly, no hassle in any department… How do these guys make profit???!!! I have had mine for over 3 months now. No problems with them… good clarity (for small speakers), loud volume, great bass for such tiny things, and great battery life (In fact i still have the first set of 4 AAA batteries in there and i use it more or less every day!!!!). If batteries run out, just use your pc (via the included usb cable) to power them!!!! Fantastic value…. Thanks GZ!!!!!
