Customer Review: Akura dvd recorder with 160gb hdd - *EXCELLENT VALUE*
Upon plugging the Akura in I was initially surprised to find how the quality of the product shone through. ?100 and you kind of expect a sub-standard bit of kit, not with the Akura. A great price, easy to use and very versatile. Well worth every penny if you have a tight budget. The fact that it has a Hard Disk is the cherry on the cake. I don’t use DVDs any more to record on.
Customer Review: Very good for the price!
I was initially very irritated when I bought this Akura HDD DVD recorder because I couldn’t get it to work. The machine seemed to be functioning in every way except the picture - the most IMPORTANT PART! All I could see was a test page, with two vertical lines, one black, one white. I tried everything I could think of to get rid of these lines, even asking friends and Internet tech help forums. No luck, until someone told me to press and hold down the pre-scan button for at least ten seconds upon start up. I did it and it worked. But there’s no mention of this in the instruction book, nor is a test page mentioned in the trouble-shooting page. So, now you know! Anyway, the machine is very good, once you get passed the test page! It records in both + and - DVD formats. It also plays VCDs. But the best part is the 160GB hard drive where you can store all your programmes. There’s masses of space, and the quality even on the EP mode is just like the original TV picture. You can also pause live TV and go back a few minutes even when you’re recording. The recording is not interrupted. You can also link it up to your computer via a USB and fly cable. All in all, great value for just under 100 quid! You could easily pay double that price and not get as many features.

Die Hard 4.0 ( Extended Unrated Edition ) [ 2007 ] - 2 Disc Limited Edition With Voice Recorder [ IMPORT ] ( REGION 3 )
After a twelve-year hiatus, Bruce Willis is back as New York City detective John McClane, who still plays by his own set of rules. Following DIE HARD (1988), DIE HARD 2 (1990), and DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE (1995), the fourth instalment in the popular action series stars DEADWOOD’s Timothy Olyphant as Thomas Gabriel, an evil mastermind who is determined to bring down the entire infrastructure of the United States on Independence Day, sending the country into anarchy and chaos. Joining him on his mission of destruction is the elegant Mai, played by Maggie Q from MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III. McClane becomes involved when he gets caught in the crossfire while transporting prisoner Matt Farrell (Justin Long, IDIOCRACY), a hacker extraordinaire who is the perfect complement to the old-school McClane, who eschews mobile phones, computers, and doing anything the easy way. But when Gabriel kidnaps McClane’s daughter, Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, DEATH PROOF), it gets personal. Full of the sarcastic humour, exciting action sequences–including a car flying into a helicopter–and fun characters that have defined the series, DIE HARD 4.0 is an excellent addition, directed by Len Wiseman (UNDERWORLD). The movie also features Kevin Smith as a computer geek known as Warlock, who still lives in his mother’s basement. This DVD is an officially released overseas import which is Region 3 coded and requires a multi region DVD player for playback. It has the original English soundtrack which can be selected from the DVD setup menu.
