August DA104CD 10.4″ Freeview/Analogue LCD TV & DVD Player with Card Reader & USB Port (As Seen on Channel 5 Gadgets Show 12/11/07)
August DA104CD is a multi-functional personal entertainment centre. It is LCD TV, digital Freeview TV receiver, digital radio receiver, high quality tablet DVD player with slot-in disc loader, media player from SD/MS/MMC memory cards and from an external hard disc via USB port, digital photo displayer and high resolution monitor for other media player or a game console. With stylish state-of-the-art super slimline and lightweight design, outstanding picture and sound quality and user friendly features. It becomes an ideal TV and media player for kitchen, bedroom, caravan, boat and travelers. It can also be connected to a larger screen to output TV, video and digital photos to your home TV.

Please note that there may be difficulty to receive Freeview TV signal by the included portable antenna in some areas where the signal is not sufficiently strong at present. This is due to that the Freeview service (www.freeview.co.uk) in the UK is yet full power broadcasting to support portable TV antenna at present. The reception will be improving along with the progress of Digital Switchover Program (http://www.digitaltelevision.gov.uk). A signal amplifier or booster may improve reception capability in regions where the signal is marginally strong. (Please note that reception capability may also be affected by various factors such as proximity to Freeview TV/digital radio transmitters, tall building structures, thick walls, ceilings and etc.). A rooftop TV aerial may be required to watch Freeview channels in regions where the signal is insufficient for a portable antenna.

Customer Review: Problematic reception.
This is a very nice looking TV ,but unfortunatly disappointed us due to the poor quality reception on certain channels, mainly ITV.The picture kept disappearing or ”pixeling out”.This problem appears to have nothing to do with our ariel nor the reception in this area since we have bought a Samsung since which performs immaculately.
Customer Review: 1080i Output = *drool*
this TV in perfect for HD gaming with outstanding Quality picture and thanks to my Xbox360 is allows my DVDs to be upscailed however this tv dosen’t support 1080p but thats no bother because both i & p are virtually the same i reccomend for any 7th gen console owner and those looking for a really decent TV

Customer Review: Orbit Portable DVD Player with TV, Freeview - Review
I bought one of these units for my son for Christmas 2007. The unit was dispatched very quickly from `Allcam World of Portables’ although their chosen courier (Citylink) is quite simply appalling. They delivered it to someone half way up the road & never even attempted to deliver it here. After calling City Link many times, we managed to locate & recover the parcel! The box for the DVD player/TV doesn’t give any indication that this unit has Freeview & quotes Model No. PTDVD-768. Having bought this unit as a present, I didn’t want to remove the outer cellophane from the box or, break the seal to check. I e-mailed Allcam & they were adamant that the unit did have Freeview. A visit to the Orbit Website underlined my concerns when I discovered that there are two version of this unit - one with Freeview (Model PTDVD-768DVB) & one without (Model PTDVD-768) No fear though, Christmas day, my son opened his present and ….. the unit does indeed have Freeview. Allcam said that they regularly get calls about this & claim that the box doesn’t use the word `Freeview’ because it’s a tradename!?! …. yet the box for my son’s unit doesn’t even say `DVB’ or quote the correct model number! The instructions for the unit are a bit cheesy & written in pseudo English/Chinese! When first tested with a DVD, the unit made an applauding noise & wouldn’t read a DVDs. Upon close inspection, I discovered that the DVD has a very thin plastic (transport?) shield over the lens & this needs to be removed before use (…. of course, the instructions were absolutely no help here!) Once we got over that hurdle, the unit worked like a dream. The DVD motor drive is slightly noisy but otherwise ok. Picture quality is excellent. The rechargeable battery unit (which is external & looks more like a docking unit) also provides a portable telescopic aerial. For Freeview reception this isn’t much use …. unless you’re sat on top of the TV transmitter! A 12V car adapter is also supplied. To set up the DVB & Analogue TV channels, we plugged the unit into a good (external) aerial. Again, this all worked ok apart from the DVB which seems to place the channels in a `non-standard’ order. Although there is a channel sort facility, none of the options put the channels in the correct order (as per a `normal’ Freeview box). There is a facility to manually sort the channels, but accidentally invoke the auto setting & all your hard work can be undone in a flash! According to the manual, the unit is supposed to be supplied with a car antenna but this wasn’t in the box. Although you can control virtually everything via the remote control, for some odd reason there’s no remote control of the volume!! This is controlled via a very basic volume control on the side of the unit. The unit also comes with a Games controller & a disc full of games - which my son loves. In all, this is an excellent unit & very good value for money. Plus points …… 1). Excellent Picture quality on DVD & Freeview 2). Value for money 3). Packed FULL of features 4). Dual headphone sockets (so 2 people with headphones can watch at same time) Bad points 1). Poor Instructions 2). Battery pack makes unit a bit cumbersome 3). No volume control via the remote.

Customer Review: Dissappointing!!!!
Brilliant picture, UNTIL you try to watch one channel whilst recording another. Then the result is very dissapointing. If we wanted a free view box that only showed one channel then we would have done it a lot cheaper than this!!! Be warned and do not buy
Customer Review: Excellent
Got a Digifusion recorder which didn’t work / froze constantly, acted oddly etc, so sent it back to Microdirect. This has been lots better - lovely clear EPG, perfect picture, silent (some are quite noisy) very simple and intuitive.

Customer Review: Great when it works!
I Have owned one of these sets since November 06 and was until recently very happy with it. Picture and sound quality are great, and unlike some reviews here I have had no problems with Freeview, at least not since I had a proper aerial upgrade. Neither have I had any problems with connectivity to an external DVD/HD recorder. However, I have just had to return mine for repair due to a screen fault. I switched on this morning and had sound but no picture. Just to rub salt into the wound, I phoned the Philips support centre, which by the way is a premium rate number, and after holding for around ten minutes at my cost, I was told that they do not send a courier to collect faulty TV’s under a 26″ screen size unless the customer pays for the transit insurance! Deciding that I could not be bothered with the hassle and the extra cost of arranging transit insurance, and coupled with having to wait in for couriers to arrive, I decided to return the TV to the repair centre myself, a round trip of nearly 200 miles. Fortunately I had the time to do this, but still had to bear the cost of the fuel myself. So in summary, a great TV when it works, but just beware that if you do have problems a free warranty repair isn’t exactly free! Having said that, the staff at the repair centre were extremely helpful. Hopefully it will be back in a few days in full working order.
Customer Review: phillips 26″
After days of deliberating over various styles and makes, ordered this tv on friday night got it delivered free on thursday, fantastic looking tv, very easy to install, great picture, set it up to your own preferences, only thing is the cable is very short, but that is my only gripe, would recommend it, for a small room, lacking in space. Already got a 32″ and needed a 26″ for a small sitting room. So far so good, and the kids love it.

Customer Review: very nice television
bought to replace an earlier Sharp LCD 37″ television, this set is now in the corner of my lounge and looks very nice. The slim frame means that it doesn’t look that much bigger than the 37″ even though the picture is larger. Good bits - very nice picture on SD - better than the earlier set maybe because the tuner and/or picture processing is better. Great picture on upscaled DVD. It has an auto-brightness feature which turns the brightness down when the room’s dark - seems to work well too! The remote allows you to select either analogue or digital tuner - useful for me as the digital reception is a bit hit and miss on C4. Bad bits - the response to the remote is a bit slow and you don’t get the “curtains” effect when you switch off. Oh, and this is a big set, whereas I could manage to move the 37″ easily on my own, this one is a “two-man lift”. So, not perfect but great for the price

Customer Review: hardware good, software bad
I could not get the software to work but it is fine with media center 2005
Customer Review: A great card for Linux PVRs
I have two of these cards (making four tuners in total) on my MythTV machine. Having built a few MythTV-based media centres now, this is my far the best card I’ve tried, and is now very well supported under linux using the video4linux drivers (using the open source firmware out there; just search around for dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw). The linux firmware can also enable the “poor quality signal booster” that’s built on to the card. The card tunes to channels notably faster than many of the other tuners I’ve tried too. However, it’s not without its faults: As stated previously, the remote control is a bit rubbish (feels very cheap, and has a limited angle/range, more tricky to get working under Linux), so the USB MS MCE Remote is definitely a must-buy to go with this (very well supported on Linux). In addition, it’d have been nice to see regular RF terrestrial supported and FM too, but with the DVB Radio channels on Freeview this may not be a gripe for you. I’ve also found that the ariel socket on the back is a little feeble, the older of my cards has worked itself slightly loose and I’m a tad concerned it may disconnect from the board before too long. Taking all of the above in to consideration, this is still far and above the best card for a Linux based PVR and very worthy of a 4/5 rating.

Customer Review: Superb
I brought this tv to use in a bedroom with a ps3 I have to say that it is fantastic. The picture quality is brilliant and i see no problem with the sound as other reviewers are saying. It really is not worth the extra money for a sony as this tv is as good or if not better. The sound and picture settings are very easy to use and Blu-ray films are brilliant on it. Very strongly recommended
Customer Review: great value for money
Have to say I wasnt expecting that much from this initially but Im very impressed so far. Even with a cheap indoor aerial I bought more than 10 years ago it works great and the freeview is really good. So easy to set-up and install (it does everytthing for you more to be honest) and it looks great with its glass stand. All in all definately the Tv for watching movies and sports. Philips get a thumbs up from me!

Customer Review: good tv for the price
just bought the tv for conservatory/bedroom use, although picture quality not as good as my samsung its good enough, built in dvd saves space,i’m pleased with it.
Customer Review: BAD TV
This tv does have a Buzz and it is very noticable. The sound levels are far too loud also just like others have said making it useless for the bedroom as its just too loud. The remote control is slow at responding, you press the buttons and nothing happens. Good side to it is that the DVD and USB plays divx. It played a 250gb passport drive full of divx perfectly. I would stay clear of this model and try another though.

Customer Review: Excellent value
Came to Amazon when let down by smaller suppliers and as ever Amazon proved reliable and efficient. (N.B. this TV was ?400 pre Xmas!!) The TV itself is great, albeit the freeview as mentioned can be grainy and the response time of the remote is slow. However watching tv through the sky+ digibox is as good a picture as my old panansonic CRT once we got the settings sorted out, which can be fiddly, and the gamer mode in HD for the XBOX 360 is incredible - Call of Duty 4 is scary!! Overall a great little TV and for the money as good as anything around - we did our research.
Customer Review: very good
i bought this tv a couple of months ago and have been very impressed by it. the speakers are not the best in the world but you dont expect it from a flat screen lcd tv. im using it for my ps3 set up and must say im extremely impressed by the hd experiance this tv offers. if you go to a main store anywhere and see this next to other hd tv’s you will see the difference in quality immediatly and pin point this is the best one by a mile! highly recommended tv

“(XORO) Portable 9.2″” DVD Player & DVB-T TV (HSD7510)”

“(XORO) Portable 9.2″” DVD Player & DVB-T TV (HSD7510)”
This elegantly engineered product is a 9.2 inch 16:9 LCD top line tablet portable DVD player with the disk loader at back and also a high definition portable digital TV allowing you to watch over 30 freeview TV channels. XORO HSD 7510 is a multi-region player supporting MPEG4 / DivX / Xvid and almost all video formats. With its integrated card reader and USB port you can play and watch video programs stored in various devices. As a TV receiver it has the integrated features of fast program scan, Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and Teletext.

Customer Review: Where it belongs
Yes I bought one of these and it’s now on the local rubbish dump where it belongs. It never worked.

Customer Review: Elegant and nice!
I was in the market for a good quality portable DVD player for my daughter and stumbled on this Xoro gem which also comes with Freeview TV and whole host of other useful features. The player looks really smart and feels robust. The screen gives very good pictures. The unit’s seven-day electronic programme guide is easy to operate and the tuner only takes a couple of minutes to locate the TV and radio channels. The player comes with its mini-aerial, and like all digital sets, this TV does have to be in strong signal area to receive TV preogrammes. Other features include an SD card reader so one can view their photos as a slideshow. There are two headphone jacks which is handy if you have two kids who want to watch a DVD at the same time when you are driving!

The only area that is not allowing me to give it 5 stars is the TV reception in poor signal areas (not the players fault mind you!). Overall very pleased and recommended.

August DA110CD is a multi-functional personal entertainment centre. Customer Review: Impressive for a portable LCD TV
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I bought one of these for my wife as a present, especially as I’d never heard of the manufacturer before, but I was pleasantly surprised. Because I’m so close to our local transmitter I’m within the “shadow” area and have to use a good rooftop aerial, none of my prior TV’s have obtained a decent picture from either an inbuilt aerial, or even one of the custom wall-mounted types connected through a booster, so I wasn’t at all surprised to find I needed to connect this to the external aerial as well. For that reason I can’t make a fair comment about the inbuilt aerial. No doubt I’ll find out how good that is when I next go camping, but if we can’t get a signal it’s easy enough to take a few films along with us instead ! That aside, picture quality is very good, whether for analogue TV, freeview, DVD, or plugged into the Sky box. DVD in particular was much better than I was expecting for such a compact unit. Sound is fairly decent too, obviously it’s nowhere near as good as a hi-fi when it comes to audio cd’s, but good enough to play music on in the kitchen, bathroom or a tent if you just want something playing in the background while you get on with other things. The flexibility of the unit is what impressed me the most, it’ll handle just about anything you can throw at it. The only thing it doesn’t have is an HDMI input for my HDV camcorder, but then it’s not a High Definition TV so I knew that wouldn’t be an option…. I’d definitely recommend it as a kitchen or bathroom TV that will also double up as a personal DVD player to keep the kids occupied in the car on a long journey, or a wet evening at the campsite. My only complaint is that the controls can seem somewhat sluggish in responding, I’m not always sure if it’s registered the button presses or not.

Customer Review: Philips 32PF5531D - 32″ Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview
Ordered this TV from Amazon 22:30 on Tuesday 12th February and paid for express delivery which was excellent as the TV arrived am Thursday 14th, Was looking at a lot of 32″ TV on Amazon but this one was the cheepest I saw and purchased it based on the 2 good reviews it had. Ever so easy to set-up and once it was out of off the box it was installed and ready to watch in under 10 mins and picture quality is far better than the old 19″ TV it replaced This also came with a freeview box inside which will save me now ?30-?40 when they switch us over to the dicital signal.
Customer Review: Excellent piece of kit
I’m very impressed with this TV, especially for the price I paid for it. I ordered it on a Saturday & it was delivered to me on Tuesday - how’s that for prompt delivery! The TV is super, the picture quality excellent and the sound very good, although to be fair it would sound better through a surround system or a decent HiFi unit (but then I expected that consider the actual size of the speakers in this thing). The set-up was a doddle, once I’d remembered to hit the OK button when English appeared on the screen (trying to read the set-up menu in Polish was somewhat interesting first time round!). Two scart sockets mean that I can easliy plug in my satellite connection, a DVD player & a video recorder so that they all work together. I’ve not tried the Audio Out yet but will get round to that in time. Overall an excellent purchase.

Superb LG 22LS4D with a HD Ready panel for crisp, clear images and a digital tuner to receive up to 42 digital TV channels. Perfect for the bedroom or the smaller living room.
Customer Review: A great TV!
I’ve owned this TV for a few months now and i have to say its great! the picture quality is superb and having a higher native resolution, its great to use as a PC monitor. The only problem i found was the sound quality of the built in speakers, they sound more like loud headphones, but this can be easily sorted by connecting a set of speakers to the headphone socket. If your looking for a high quality HDTV/PC monitor you really cant go wrong with this. there are plenty of connections, i currently have a pc, xbox 360, ps3 and a freeview box connected and theres still another AV socket and S Video to spare.
Customer Review: Very good TV but poor sound
For gaming this TV is great, the picture is crisp and clear. But the sound quality is beyond poor. The base is drowned out all the time and what makes it worse is there is no headphone jack to connect speakers to.

Customer Review: Toshiba
Bought this TV after quite a bit of research, and have been thoroughly pleased, considering the price. The freeview picture is excellent, and the TV guide is easy to use, and looks good as well. The sound is a real improvement on my old LG LCD, and the set up is really easy to use. Playing a DVD also produces a good quanity picture. I cannot think of a single thing that this TV really falls down on.
Customer Review: Fantastic television for the price
I ordered the TV at 3pm on Friday, it arrived Saturday morning. The fastest delivery I have ever had in my life! Less than 24 hours. After studying countless TV’s, and debating Plasma vs LCD I opted for this TV, originally I was going to get a Sony Bravia but when I saw the TV’s side by side in Tesco, the Toshiba looked clearer and sharper than the Sony. This alone made my decision. The price is also a lot cheaper here at Amazon. The TV is easy to setup and very light and has freeview built in. The image quality is slightly pixelated when you get close and sometimes you can see it whilst watching TV. But when I switch my PS3 on the image quality is sharp as ever, pixel perfect with superb colours, DVD’s look awesome as well. It upscales to 1080 as well. All in all, a great TV for the money, you won’t be disappointed.

Customer Review: Stunning
If, like I was, you are dubious about changing from a traditional CRT TV to LCD, don’t be. This is a stunning TV in all respects. Great picture and sound with plenty of scope for adapting to your own personal taste. The styling is simple and attractive and although the TV is significantly larger than the one we had previously, it doesn’t swamp the room in any way. Set up: Very easy. Picture: Plenty of options from subtle to dynamic. Sound: Clear with a good dynamic range. Plenty for most applications. Remote: Very straightforward and ergonomic. Summary: Don’t look any further!
Customer Review: Outstanding 26″ LCD Television
I wasnt sure whether to go the extra mile and pay more for the LXD70 over the LMD70, but I must admit if you can get the LXD70 for around ?70 more than the LMD70 its money well spent. Amazon payment wasnt quite as simple as usual - not sure why but my card was rejected - but delivery was quick and free, so top marks there. I basically bought this TV with the money from a returned Sony KDL26U2000 and the quality is chalk and cheese. The Sony had some motion issues, and backlight buzz which caused me to return it to a major supermarket beggining with T, no sign of that here! I can confirm the reviews I have read so far giving the LDX70 top marks - installation couldnt be easier, wall mounting is simple, and no backlight buzzing or picture issues with this product. Sports and picture panning are dealt with amazing ease. Its even better than my Toshiba 37WLT68P, and that is a 100Hz impressive picture.(just via freeview - yet to buy a HDMI device for the bedroom, but it wont be long!). ***** 5 stars+.

Customer Review: great picture if you can find it
at one hundred pound i thought i was buying a quality piece of kit how wrong i was yes its true the picture quality is top notch unfortunally most of the time you dont have a picture just a message saying no signal even if you stick the aerial outside the window it still has trouble finding the signal bottom line dont buy this unless you have more money then sense total rubbish
Customer Review: tiny TV perfection…
I do find it strange that I can be within a mile of Gatwick Airport (fairly built up area) and only get a 2% signal (which is still enough for a perfect picture anyway on this device), then head off to the New Forest and get a 40% signal when I’m apparently in the middle of nowhere! My experience with portable digital TV is you either get a perfect picture or no picture at all. Not sure that this particular brand is specific to signal problems of that nature though, mine has been perfect so far, as have some friends who also own one. Either way, this little TV has fared extremely well for me and not having had problems with lack of signal, can’t knock any stars off a perfect score. The picture is pretty much perfect (even easily watchable outside during sunny days), news tickers can also be read clearly and believe it or not, you can see the ball when watching golf! (Not a golf fan btw, just pointing out the quality. A final worthwhile example is the kids have been able to watch CITV/Cbeebies etc in the car on the way back from school with no loss of picture at all! (A trip of about 8 miles). The sound is loud enough despite the tiny built in speaker, it fits in my shirt pocket and weighs about the same as my mobile phone. Battery at full volume lasts me about 3 hours, charges in less than 1 hour. 40+ TV channels and digital radio in a unit slightly larger than a pack of cards: I for one am impressed. Just as importantly, my mates are too:-) I can’t knock its performance in and around Surrey and Hampshire though I’d assume there are places it won’t work, (just as with handheld analogue TV) I just haven’t found any yet. A worthy 5 stars.

Customer Review: Stylish, good quality and easy to use
I was after a nice LCD TV for the bedroom which wasn’t black, that was quite good and didn’t cost me a fortune… Well I found it! Very stylish, it looks great but it does the job well too. Extremely easy to set-up, it’s all automatic and you just need to press the Ok button few times, great picture and quite good sound too really. Also, menu are quite intuitive at least compared to other brands… which is a plus! Freeview is as good as with a set-top box and connectivity is very good. I’ve got to try it with my Xbox… :) So overall extremely pleased especially if you think about the price is currently on sale for! Very good value for the money spent. Oh, delivery from Amazon was fast as usual and without problem.
Customer Review: Samsung Tastic
I bought this as a replacement for my parents kitchen tv. It is a good looking tv not to heavy at all and easy to install and get up and running as my parents found to their delight. Once the digital channel button was found on the remote there was no going back to analogue tv. The picture is fantastic with only a slight blurring with fast changing colours, but the black is excellent making the colours stand out and be vibrant. Some other reviews have mentioned the sound not being he strongest but no complaints so far and the room this is in, is not a small room. Overall mightily impressed with this tv and bargain as well.

Topfield TF-5800 Digital Video Recorder
An amazing product, with twin tuners you can record two channels simultaneously and playback a previous recording! Pause live TV, so your in the middle of your favourite program and the phone rings, just press pause, take the call then press play to resume.
Customer Review: the only one to consider
After much research and going from one review website to another I narrowed down my choices to 2, the topfield or the humax, boy did I make the right choice, the topfield is a without doubt the best there is on the market, even the slightly higher price tag its worth every penny. It will transform the way you can watch televison, its so easy to use and set up and the picture quailty is much better than the previous digital box I used. Having heard the noise from a neighbours sky plus machine I was very concerned about the noise the machine would make and the topfield does not have a cooling fan, unlike the humax. There is a slight noise at start up but once its up and running the machine is totaly silent. The other amazing plus point is that once you get to grips with the basic machine updating via the website and forum pages takes the machine to the next level. Bought from amazon it arrived within 2 days and was up and recording in minutes!!
Customer Review: No more appointment TV
Have you noticed how the only programmes you want to watch all seem to be on at 9.00 pm on the same night? Now you can record 2 while watching one.Everyone else has mentioned the obvious aspects easy tuning, etc and I agree with all this. But as well as liking TV I am a big radio fan and before Digital the the only way I was able to record was using Audio Casetters which were pretty useless, Now I can “diaryise” Radio channels as well as TV and I love the old Radio 4 Archives on BBC7. The digital radio channels are wonderful. I also own one of te original Pace recorders which were good in their day but only 10 hours of storage!!! The topfield is just so much better. the TV Guide within it makes setting up a doddle. Just scroll down the channels guide and press record on the ones you want. You can then adjust to daily, weekdays, weekly one off etc. oddly I seem to watch less as I just watch the programmes I really want. Cannot recommend it enough
