Customer Review: Panasonic DVD RAM recorders recording.
To those who can’t record TV programmes whilst away on holiday, I wish you well. There is no reason why this cannot be achieved. Two ways.

Way 1

1:Set up the Digi box either Sat or Freeview onto AV2 SCART on the recorder.

1.1:Set recorder to start and finish at times required and specify AV2 as program.

1.2:Set the programmes required on the favouites list on the digi box.

1.3.Set Timer.

Note, you could even use Video Plus and check that the entry for program has used AV2. It usually does.

Way 2.

Set up digi box as way 1.

With SAT (including FreeSat), set up programmes required in the favourites list (make sure they won’t clash through setting program links).

Set the recorder to External link via remote or on the front panel depending on model of recorder.

The signal used by SKY+ sent by the programme distributer will start the recorder and switch it off into standby.

Note that if you use the programme menu on a sat box whilst the recording is happening, the recorder will loose the continiuity signel and stop recording.

The first way is the best but be sure to synchronise the favourites list and the recording times.

Then turn your telly off at the mains and go on holiday.

Customer Review: does what it says on the box

Customer Review: Poor Sony Product & Very poor Company Support
I am on my third machine, none of which have been any good. The third machine received July 2007 has been back to the authorised repairer five times. In twelve months I have less than 3 months use out of it. The main problem was the machine switching on and off as per other reviews. The repairers have replaced many parts and I am currently waiting for the repairer to receive a printed circuit board to rectify the problem. I have no faith that this will completely solve the problem. DO NOT expect any help or consideration from the Customer Service section of SONY UK. The machine has been with the repairer since 26 October 2007 and is still there now. BUY one at your peril prepare to be disappointed.
Customer Review: Common fault of switching its self off
Have had exactly same experience as others, had machine for 5 months now turns its self on and off every few seconds. 2 friends bought same machine and had same problem. Contact Sony 08705 111999 and they will give you name of nearest Sony repair firm, who will repair if within 12 month warranty. Hope this helps, frankly dissappointed that this recognised common fault does not mean an automatic replacement from manufacturers.

Customer Review: Could be better
In common with the other reviewers, the first thing I noticed was how noisy the fan is. Over the last few months the fan has been getting even noisier at start-up, but quitens a little after a few minutes. This problem is getting so bad I am about to send it back. The other issue is that I have never been able to record on the timer (either to HDD or DVD), either from my NTL or Freeview box. It works fine to record live though and I am happy with other aspects of it.
Customer Review: Absolute JUNK
I bought this based on the half decent reviews. The first unit I bought had a faulty LCD & had to be sent back (part of the LCD didn’t light up, meaning 18:00 hours always displayed as 8:00 etc). The second unit randomly freezes for no reason what all. At this point it becomes COMPLETELY unresponsive & the only fix is to unplug it & wait for one minute before powering back on. Nothing else works. In addition, it’s completely failed to record programs via the timer. The first & last time I buy anything from Daewoo. Avoid this junk at all costs.

Customer Review: Going Digital
The HDD DVD recorder seems excellent value for money and does the job perfectly. I don’t think you can record and watch a DVD or recording at the same time (other than the timeshift pause live tv function), but I might not have worked that part out yet. The instructions are pretty complicated! My only concern with this product is it’s lack of built in digital decoder, so to record digital I have to use my old digital decoder. My TV has a built in decoder but I don’t think I can use that to record, so I have to have an additional decoder……I’m not quite sure what the solution is when the terrestrial signal gets switched off as it is a faff to make sure that the digi box is on the right channel for recording. So although I’d recommend the product I think that next time I’ll definitely get a built in decoder as it would be tens times easier that way. Spend the extra money if you can afford it….
