Customer Review: re previous reviews
had this recorder for about a month now and i have had no problems with the manual nor any problems recording from sky+. picture quality is very good, it records on all discs, for the money i dont think you will buy a better machine
Customer Review: Nice recorder — Pity about the manual
I think this may well be a very good machine. However, I’ve had this kit for 6 months now and have not got around to doing anything other than play pre recorded disks (which it does very well). The reason for this lack of functionality is the rubbish manual which is the usual poor translation into Englishese. Even when I contacted Panasonic they agreed that it was poor but held out no hope of an english rewrite. The manual is fine if you just want to record the programmed tv channel. But try to fathom out how to say, record stored Sky+ programmes to archive them onto DVD. I did get a few clips onto a disk but gave up trying to edit them into a comprehensive programme. In short, the brochure promises marvellous features but the manual does not explain how to achieve any of these wonders.

Customer Review: Very nasty product
I have had this machine about 6 months and it’s just about to go back to be repaired again. Even when it’s working, it’s so painfully slow that you end up pressing the button several times thinking it’s not doing anything. It takes about 2 minutes to warm up for a start. The most annoying thing for Sky/cable viewers is that it never remembers to default to the scart socket on startup. So you have to go through an agonisingly slow process of selecting ALL the other possible inputs in turn before being able to select the main scart input. Pretty irritating when you have to do that every time. Frankly it’s rubbish and Philips should be ashamed of themselves. I’ve had one of their microwaves for 20 years and the bulb hasn’t even gone yet. Something’s gone a bit wrong with their quality since then it seems.

Customer Review: not that impressed (yet)
I’ve only had this player 2 days but I must say my first impressions are not that great. On paper this machine seems to do everything, but I took a risk buying it as I couldn’t find any reviews for it online. My first comment is that it’s so s……l……o…….w. Put in a DVD movie and it takes an age for the menu to appear. Once playing a movie things are not much better. The 1080p upscaling (via HDMI) seems to work - however Iam not sure it’s any better than the xbox360 over VGA. The user interface looks dated and again is very slow to nativate around. I’ve yet to attempt any recording, but I hope it will score better in that area! So far only 3 stars (for HDMI output and styling).
