Customer Review: Common fault of switching its self off
Have had exactly same experience as others, had machine for 5 months now turns its self on and off every few seconds.

2 friends bought same machine and had same problem.

Contact Sony 08705 111999 and they will give you name of nearest Sony repair firm, who will repair if within 12 month warranty.

Hope this helps, frankly dissappointed that this recognised common fault does not mean an automatic replacement from manufacturers.

Customer Review: O.K. if you have never used a Humax
Potentially excellent combination of upscaling dvd player, dvd writer and freeview HDD recorder to go with my new sony LCD but I could not stand the crude way the EPG expects you to set up recordings.

On my 3 year old HUMAX I set up 95% of recordings by searching for program name. To my surprise you cannot do this on the Sony - you have to laboriously go though the epg manually to find the programs.

On further research (See the excellent comparison data on www.pvrjunction.co.uk) it seems that only Humax, Daewoo, and Topfield/TAPS allow searching by text.

I also found the interface generally slow, and the fan noisier than I found acceptable.

Had to go back!

Customer Review: Dead on arrival (mostly)
Nice box, nice manual, easy to set up, recorded and played back from the HDD, played music CD’s and picture CDs but would not recognize pre-recorded DVD’s (correct Region) or the blank DVD-R included in the box. Hence not much use as a DVD recorder/player. LiteOn support answered promptly but could suggest nothing more to try and the unit was returned to the supplier XSONLY who arranged collection and have now refunded payment. I did expect a replacement unit rather than a refund so I’ll have to re-order.
Customer Review: LiteOn LVW-5027HC
I have had this machine for less than a month and have found it to be a very nice machine. Not only is it a good DVD recorder but it is also a better quality DVD player than my dedicated DVD players. In addition I have found the operating interface to be as user friendly as my apple macs……..!

DVD Recorder with 160 Hard Disc Drive
Customer Review: Hugely Disappointing…
Purchased this unit 4 months ago and was very pleased with it: multi-region, great design, easy to use, large storage capacity. In the last 6 weeks the unit has gone from occasionally rejecting dvd-r/rws, to rejecting all blank dvds (of many varieties), to the point where it cannot even read pre-recorded dvds (and makes a horrible noise when doing so). While the hard drive still works a system error also occurs every few days. Have contacted Samsung, who were not helpful in the slightest. After a good start this product has become very disappointing. Other buyers beware that although a great unit, its longevity is dubious. At ?200+ buyers should expect more.
Customer Review: Superb piece of technology!
A superb piece of technology, huge storage capacity and it does everything it says it does!! I have always been fond of Samsung and being able to watch and record at the same time, multi region too is just superb value for money. Thank you to Amazon for fantastic delivery.
