Customer Review: Multi-region?
I got this earlier in the year but it does not play anything DVD’s other than region 2 DVD’s. Be wary.
Customer Review: good but problems connecting to NTL!!!
I have recently purchased this DVD recorder, but am having great problems utilising its different functions. I use NTL, and cannot seem to programme the channels into the recorder, so at present I cannot record anything from TV. The recorder seems to pick up only one channel (the one that I have the NTL set on at that moment). It doesnt pick up any other channels! has anyone had (and hopefully solved!) similar problems? or any advice would be fantastic as this problem is really driving me mad! Except from that it delivers a good picture through my plasma, and can watch films (dvd/divx/avi) with no problems and easy operation! please email shona 569@hotmail.com or call 07810 543300 many thanks!

Not only does the DVDR3480 record to DVDs, it archives videos thanks to its i.Link input! The DVDR3480 also plays DVDs and displays other multimedia formats on your television via its USB Direct port, including MP3, DivX and JPEG files. Its compatible with the latest DivX Ultra format and even reads dual-layer DVD discs. Plus, it comes with a host of compression modes and an improved recording time.

Customer Review: Buggy, lacking features, badly designed
This really isn’t an impressive piece of hardware. Not only is the remote control awkward to look at, it is unresponsive, even when close to the main unit and pointed directly at it. Several features do not work as well as they should. The playback window when scanning chapters is too small, it is not possible to review a programme from the end (to chop off dead space, for example), or to divide a programme at the point you have watched (this can only be done via the divide menu). 5-minute chapter intervals are way too small for anything more than an hour long. Recording onto discs which have already been used is not well-organised, even for timer recordings. USB playback is a nice touch, but only really necessary if you have a PC with footage you want but no CD-R/DVD-R drive. Also, my model has an apparent fault in which recordings are often made with white noise instead of clear sound. Retuning the device appears to resolve this, but that’s no use when recording programmes ahead. I’m assuming that I simply have a faulty unit, so this hasn’t affected the score.
Customer Review: The Worst Ever
Do not buy this piece of rubbish! I bought this on the “good make” of Philips, however I’d even swear that some counterfeit goods are made better than this. A) For a start it does not allow you to set the chapter times only sets a chapter at every five minutes giving you 60+ chapters in a 4 or 5 hour recording. B) If you follow the diagram for the setup as I did every DVD you playback will be very opaque sepia like and dull, and everything you record will be the same. However if you switch the scarts around and put the TV Out scart into the scart-in where the Sky+ box had been connected it will then playback fine, however then it will not recognise the Sky+ scart forcing you to connect via the 1970’s RF Cable. C) The DVD Editor (for RW disks) is so bad, the screens in which you see what you recorded are like a matchbox and the layout terrible. D) The Remote control is definitely designer engineered, it may look good but it is no practical, it is symmetrically shaped and half the time it is pointed at myself rather than the DVD recorder. E) The OSD (on screen display) is awful when you go to zoom in on a widescreen dvd to get rid of some of the black lines the imposing zoom tab stay on instead of vanishing like most other brands. This DVD recorder is the pits and don’t waste your money on it.
