Customer Review: Can’t Get Past The Noise!!
I bought this to replace an LG DVD player (thought it was about time I bought myself a DVD recorder!) This Ellion recorder really does look stunning - it’s slim and super sleek. It seems to have a lot of good functionality for the price but it’s just too noisy - when you have a disc inside all you can hear is the noice of the player. If you don’t mind putting up with this then it’s worth buying (it does look pretty…), otherwise give it a miss!
Customer Review: DVR-950S(PAL) Dual
I’ve had the box for 6 months and the hard disk drive fails several times a week and this often stops the DVD from working; sometimes it also stops the physical buttons from working too & I have to unplug it from the wall to turn it off. Annoyingly it always boots from the DVD and I can’t find a way to stop this, so make sure you never leave any DVDs in the machine after use or you have to wait a minute or two for it to load up during this time I get white noise since you can’t change the source during the boot up sequence. Also you can’t specify the start-up source, so once the box has loaded I have to press the source button five times to skip through the options until I reach scart (you would have thought that scart would be near the top of the list for sources - but alas, no). The lip-sync is often out for periods of a recording, but it soon syncs up again and I only record on the lowest quality so this could be the issue. On a positive note, the pause live TV function is great and it stores hours and hours and hours of recordings on the HDD (but this is only if you get the chance to watch them before the HDD corrupts). The copying function from HDD to DVD is brilliant, though it would be good to copy multiple items into one chapter on the DVD. It is also an excellent price and looks really nice.

Customer Review: SIMPLY TO USE. FEW POINTS FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW.
Firstly, this machine does not have a HARD DRIVE at all. Anyone who says it has has a different model number to this one. Regarding the only 2 hours recording thim this DVD has the facility to record EP which is 6hours play on DVD or 10hours on DLayer disc. Refer to pg 42 of manual and pg 23 for all settings. To operate these on the on creen display press the rec mode on the remote near 3 red record buttons on remote. It will show on screen when you repeatedly press rec mode on remote. A cute feature on this is when you are selecting programmes to record on the TV menu the machine will tell you if there is not enough room on disk to copy programmes it on. So then you just select the rec mode and in it corrected. As for the EPG update at 3-4 pm i found that if you put machine in total shut off mode i.e.(no time displayed at all) then the noise is not as bad. The first programme i recorded i had to power the machine up to see if it had stated to copy or not as nothing lit up on the display, my other Sony actually started up but this one does not. Great for the planet eh. Much more user friendly than my old Sony and I love the fact that you can start to watch something after you have started to record it. Say the phone goes so you start to record Corra, you can then start to watch it when phone call ends. You select title list and it will show you what you are recording then select enter and then select play from beginning, you watch start of show and the DVD finishes recording the end of Corra. Very clever indeed. Great machine, would recommend it to anyone. You’ll love it. So simple to use. Wrighty
Customer Review: Fool proof
Delivered free in 4 days the recorder was up & running in 30 minutes.Easy electronic programme guide recording.Forgot to check measurements. The Sony is a lot deeper than my old Panasonic.
