Customer Review: Dissappointed
Had the unit for a few weeks now, have found it OK as far as recording to HDD, but thats only if I’m not watching anything else at the same time! As it interferes with the TV station that I’m watching.

It is very slow at start-up, seems like ages before I can do anything! and the drive is a little noisy.

I live in an area where there is very poor digital signal, so dont have alot of channels to view via the set, no ITV or CH4, and sometimes no BBC!… hope that will change in the future. In the meantime I have to record via the satelite, which defeats its object really!

Customer Review: Dissapointing
Sorry, but I have to go against the flow here. I found this machine both difficult to use and unreliable. So much so that I had to take advantage of Amazon’s excellent return policy. I now have a sony RDRHXD560S which I find simnplicity itself to use and excellent quality.

Customer Review: Common fault of switching its self off
Have had exactly same experience as others, had machine for 5 months now turns its self on and off every few seconds. 2 friends bought same machine and had same problem. Contact Sony 08705 111999 and they will give you name of nearest Sony repair firm, who will repair if within 12 month warranty. Hope this helps, frankly dissappointed that this recognised common fault does not mean an automatic replacement from manufacturers.
Customer Review: O.K. if you have never used a Humax
Potentially excellent combination of upscaling dvd player, dvd writer and freeview HDD recorder to go with my new sony LCD but I could not stand the crude way the EPG expects you to set up recordings. On my 3 year old HUMAX I set up 95% of recordings by searching for program name. To my surprise you cannot do this on the Sony - you have to laboriously go though the epg manually to find the programs. On further research (See the excellent comparison data on www.pvrjunction.co.uk) it seems that only Humax, Daewoo, and Topfield/TAPS allow searching by text. I also found the interface generally slow, and the fan noisier than I found acceptable. Had to go back!

Panasonic DVD Player with HDMI Upscaling and Viera Link
Customer Review: DMR-EZ27
This DVD player does exactly and more than we had hoped for. It is easy to use and the picture quality when linked by HDMI to our TV is exceptional. What else is there to say?
Customer Review: Decidely average and many restrictions.
Nice looking item, easily installed and very promising with lots of connection possibilities. I purchased this to record my old VHS/MiniDV collection on to DVD, sadly it’s not easy. The DV input keeps flashing a grey screen on the recording every few, random moments. That’s OK I’ll go for the Svhs connection then. Nope, that’s no good either, it flashes up random “copy protected” messages concerning my home made video snaps, and stops recording! So finally I have the RCA inputs, ok so it’s only VHS so the quality shouldnt matter that much. That works but you cannot put your own chapters in, for some obscure reason you can only do that on RAM discs!! So now all I have is a DVD recorder where all I can do is record a 3 hr tape in one hit and keeping my fingers crossed tightly!! Horrible. Finally the recorded DVDs seem to only come out in 4.3 which is a nuisance. I had a cheap Lite-On before and that was much easier and far less hassle. I contacted Panasonic about the problems and they basically said sorry, that’s the way it works. The Freeview section and guide are excellent, making future timer recordings very easy indeed. Well impressed with that side of it. You can even switched the machine off and it remembers it’s timer settings days later. I thought I’d go for a quality item this time as Lite-On are going down the pan, and I have been bitten. In future I’ll just buy cheap and it wont hurt so much. Very disappointed with this purchase from DABS but unfortunately the returns procedure is so long winded it means I am stuck with it. It wasnt available from Amazon at the time or I would have bought it from them, as their returns service is a healthy 10/10.
