Customer Review: overpriced
The only difference between the RDR-HXD1070 and the 970 and 870 is, by Sony’s own admission, the internal disk size. Which is an industry-standard SATA disk anyway. The models even run the same firmware! I therefore don’t see how Sony can justify a price markup of between 60% and 100% (depending on where you buy) between the 1070 and the 970. Additionally, the devices, although DivX certified, will only play DivX files from optical media. They are incapable of copying them to the internal hard disk (like you can for jpg files). This is on purpose. If Sony give us a single new product, with a huge disk, and which is capable of copying and playing DivX files from the internal hard disk, I will buy it the next day! Until then, I’m not parting with my money!
