Customer Review: Great telly but no 24fps mode for HD-DVD / Blu Ray
Everything about this TV is top-notch, apart from it not having a 24fps mode for HD-DVD players. This means certain scenes on HDDVDS (and BluRay) will appear jerky (like they are running at about 10 frames per second) because of…well, it’s too complicated to go into here but suffice to say you will be very upset if you buy a player and try and watch Planet Earth on it. Any scene with lots of moving detail (shots from the air mainly) look terrible. Apparently the only solution is to buy a 24fps telly - my player is 24fps compatible, I assumed this TV was too, but sadly it’s not. SIGH. ?900 for a telly which can’t play HD-DVDs properly…how annoying. Need to find someone to offload this onto asap…
Customer Review: Sony Bravia 40″
The television was a replacement but the old TV worked fine. However, hubby fell for the bargain within the Sony shop. They have some real bargains so we bought a Sony DVD player/recorder at the same time.
There was just no ’setting up’ involved. The pair ‘married’ when plugged in and even the SKY hand control works properly now - turns TV off even! Both hand controls work either Sony TV or Recorder so hunting for the correct one is a thing of the past. Haven’t felt the need to purchase HD from SKY as the quality is great. I think the TV is ahead of it’s time.
Going back to buy hubby a set of surround sound speakers for his Christmas present (his idea not mine). Can’t wait personally.

Customer Review: Excellent as a PC monitor
Bought one of these in February 2007 when they were just over six hundred pounds delivered from Amazon. Its main use is as a monitor for a HTPC system, and although there is only a VGA 15 pin connector the quality from a modest Radeon 9600 card is truly excellent at the native 1360×768 resolution (picked up automatically by the PC). Most of my viewing is done in the evening with subdued lighting, and the picture improved with the brightness turned down and a couple of other minor adjustments (worth spending a few minutes with the manual). It gets most use for watching DVDs and watching TV from a Nebula (r.i.p.) Digital TV card in the PC with the sound fed through my HiFi. Very pleased with the picture quality. I also sometimes use it as normal PC monitor from my chair about 9 ft away (with a Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse), where it gives very clear text. I did try the inbuilt Freeview tuner and speakers when I first got it, but the results were not as good, especially the sound, which is acceptable for everyday use but nothing to shout about. I tried routing the sound through my HiFi, but for some reason there was then a delay between the picture and the the sound coming from the Samsung audio out socket, and I never got to the bottom of that. No synch problems though when used as above with the video and sound both coming from my PC, or when just using the inbuilt Freeview tuner and speakers.
Customer Review: Best TV you could buy for this price
I’ve searched for HD televisions for over 1 month, and finally bought this TV in september 2006, and since then never had a problem. The TV should actually cost more than it is because it is great, especiallyif you play XBOX 360 on it, the picture quality is extremely great.
