Toshiba 42Z3030DB - 42″ Widescreen 1080P Full HD LCD TV - With 100hz & Freeview

The Gloss looks and Slim-line edges make this TV look smaller than it’s 42″ and the stand’s swivel mount is fantastic.

The only minor negative is that the TV took ages to setup the picture to how I liked it as there’s no Setup function so you have to edit everyone of the 15+ settings individually and then go back to the start to fine-tune them.

Other than that it’s a great TV and I couldn’t be happier with it.

I have just purchased the 37″ version of this tv, but felt an urge to leave a review somewhere for this outstanding piece of kit. Have looked long ad hard for a new tv I finally took the plunge to buy the Toshiba Z series. The fact that it is 100hz means its even more future proof than simply being full HD.

The TV looks stunning in gloss black, and comes complete with a swivel stand. But non of this compares to the moment to switch it on. I have normal sky going in, and the standard picture quality is much better than most I had looked at, even the new panasonic LCD. Most impressive are the blacks, you do not get the grey haze that you find on many lcds.

Best of all is the HD performance, I have a ps3 and therefore 1080p. The images are simply stunning. All this combined with ONKYO speakers, means this peices of kit is virtually perfect, I only wish I had sky HD.

Customer Review: Had to take this TV back
We bought it from Comet and the picture was poor - dull colours and poor definition. The Freeview channel information was almost unreadable from any kind of distance. For ?320 we expected better. So we went for the slightly bigger (20″) and more expensive (?365 from Amazon, ?385 from Comet click and collect) Sony Bravia KDL 20S2030, which we are very happy with.

Customer Review: Hmmm……
Having had this TV a few days here are my thoughts on it. The picture is bright and bold - though skin tones rarely look natural. On watching movies in a dimly lit room the gloss black case only goes to show that “black” on the picture isn’t quite as black as it should be. Looking even slightly at an angle to the screen this gets worse. Having compared with a few others maybe this is just a feature of LCDs - I’m not sure this one is that much better or worse than similar offerings. The bit that really offends my eye however is there is something very odd going on when things move….whilst you can notice it on normal pictures as moving picture being a bit “blurry” perhaps the proof is on titles which over a certain speed become absolutely illegible (considerably more so than the same material on my old TV and on both analogue and digital signals). So in summary….I’m not glad I bought it. ——— Having submitted my initial review it’s developed a fault (horizontal wobbles on all inputs), and I have returned it.
