This item will not work unless it is pluged into a power source, in this case your car cigarette lighter. It will not stay in the cigarette lighter unless the car is still and therefore is of no use whatsoever. Not only that but the design is very ugly and looks dated, the fixed connectors on the back of the cradle mean it will not be compatible with all cars - it just hangs in the air in our van and is too close to the gear stick in our car.
For me it was a total waste of money and its now lying unused in the bottom of a cupboard!!
I find a regular itrip a much cheaper and more useful alternative.
