It performs OK but it is a bit quiet. There are no sort facilities and it displays by title, although not in alphabetical order(I don’t know what criteria it uses in sorts). You can’t display by Artist or Album. All in all, not bad but too lacking in facilities to recommend it.
Customer Review: The perfect first MP3 Player
After much humming and haring I decided to take the plunge and bought this player to dip my toe in the water. I only need it for the gym and after seven 1+ hour gym sessions the single AAA battery is still working fine. Whilst not as pleasing on the eye as an iPod it does the job. I had to replace the headphones with a better set I already had and that is the only reason I do not give this a 5 star rating. Having never heard music through a more expensive player I can not comment on the quality of the music but I have no complaints.

Customer Review: Bit of a fiddle
Nice player, but a couple of problems. First, the player makes beeping noises every time you cycle through the menus and so as a result your music is constantly interrupted. Second, it’s just too small. This makes it fiddly and not as attractive as it could have been if it was just a bit more… substantial! It’s VERY easy to drop. What is this fascination with the tiny?!

anyone who gave this product less than four stars is wrong its fantastic, the sound quality is good, the software is good, the battery is good. mine survived the washing machine; but the battery is iffy so to speak but that is not the player’s fault

This mp3 can be annoying as many people say with the font being too big which makes the viewing hard etc. But i think all that can be forgotten because sony’s compression of songs to Atraac3plus is great, i currently have just over 2000 songs on this player and still have 3gb of memory left to add to.
Customer Review: Player great, Sonicstage software rubbish
I’ve owned my A1200 8gb now for 18 months or so. The sound is good, but the supplied headphones are rubbish. The display on the unit is really too small. Browsing your albums is tedious, as the font is too big and titles tend to run off to the right. So it’s a bit irritating to say the least. Sadly the biggest let down is the software you have to use to load your tracks to the unit - SonicStage. It is truly terrible, even the latest v4.3. Worst still, the tracks are always converted to Sony’s proprietory format (AAC) and, worse still, you can’t unload the tracks from the unit. I would not buy one of these units because of SonicStage. If you could drag/drop MP3s then it would be fine.
