Customer Review: Good GPS system but read the small print
I just bought the TomTom Navigator 6 complete with bluetooth GPS and complete Western Europe Maps on SD card. The GPS works fine and it was great having everything on an SD card instead of having to copy from a CD-ROM. The software and bluetooth perform better than the wired TomTom GPS and Navigator 3/5 versions that I had previously used. My one complaint is that I am restricted to using the GPS on just one PDA, not that I had thought this might be a problem when I bought it. Now my XDA Exec has developed a fault and it is just one month outside of the warranty period. This means I will need to buy a new PDA and new GPS, as TomTom will not allow me to install the system on a different machine. I don’t expect this will cause many people a problem but do be aware of this restriction if you feel you may need to change your PDA as I am about to. So far I have had a week’s use from the TomTom Navigator 6 before my XDA Exec failed - at ?166 that is an expensive week’s GPS use.

Customer Review: I’m pleased with mine!
Well I have spent the past 2 months going through all the different sat navs and asking as many people as I could which they would recommend and everyone I spoke to said a Tom Tom. I wanted a small and cheap system that also worked in Europe ready for our summer holidays. Admittedly I’ve only had it a week and have never had one before and so far I have been really pleased with it. It was easy to set up and install on the computer, it hasn’t yet fallen off the windscreen bracket which other people have complained about and it really does recalculate your route very quickly if you make a wrong turn - very useful with two small children who can be quite distracting. I bought the case too which I have to say is rather pricey for something smaller than a make up bag but it does seem to protect it well. All in all I like it but I am hoping nothing goes wrong as all the other reviews for TomTom say how awful the customer service it which did put me off a bit.
Customer Review: IF YOU WANT TRAFFIC UPDATES DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION
I purchased version 3 of the TOM TOM ONE with the intention of buying the external receiver for traffic announcements. TOM TOM’s customer service centre in Amsterdam told me not to buy the old aerial as it would only break down and they have a waiting list of customers to whom the new version of the aerial will be sent first, after which they will make it availalbe to customers like me who have bought a product expecting it to work from the outset. The customer ’service’ people cannot tell me when between now and never this aerial will be available in the UK. So, if you want traffic announcements then do not buy this version. The product has been rushed to the market and is not fit for purpose.
