Customer Review: Newly bought aerial picks up signal well.
This aerial is actually compatible with the Tom Tom Go (v3), the non-XL version. This is currently not mentioned anywhere on the TomTom website, although customer services say the website will be updated to reflect this.
I have the aerial mounted vertically and it quickly picks up signal at my home and work, both in London. I have yet to try it on a journey.
It quickly picks up around 40-100 different traffic issues, all in the South-East (presumably because I’m using it in London). Although I’ve yet to verify it, it seems to underestimate the delay due to each issue, e.g. it regularly says a traffic delay will take “1 minute” although e.g. AA roadwatch reports 20 minutes delay.
Unfortunately you don’t get much control over the routing algorithm - you can either avoid all traffic, however long that takes, or stick to the fastest route. You can’t tell it (for example) that you quite dislike traffic, but not to choose a different route if it adds more than 20 minutes to your total journey. Like most of the TomTom software, it seems to be optimized for easy use at the expense of detailed control.
One other general complaint about the TomTom algorithms is they don’t take time-of-day into account (this with software v7.1). They say south London to Banbury, through the centre of London, takes 1 minute 39, regardless of whether I ask at 1am or 7am. At 7am, it would be much higher. The algorithm should really consider time of day and realise that urban roads are slower at these times.

DON’T BOTHER!!!!!!
This is the most useless thing I have ever used. I can only say thank god i did’nt pay good money for it as it came with my Go510.
I drive 30000 miles a year and have had it for nearly a year and its only ever tuned in twice and thats to Classic FM! Not exactly the first choice for traffic info!
I’ve spent more time in traffic holdups than ever and now rely on radio reports which use RDS to interupt what i’m listening to, to give me traffic info from local radio stations. Far more helpful.

Customer Review: A great addition
I recently purchase a Go520 and got the iPod cable with it, the ability to listen to music via the SatNav unit was a great benefit. Before the directions would get drowned out by my music, now the music fades and the directions are crystal clear. In addition I can control my iPod via the TomTom and have both units provide sound via my in car radio. A perfect addition for anybody who likes to listen to music whilst travelling.

Customer Review: Tom Tom 910 in USA
I bought the Tom Tom 910 as I was going to USA on vacation and was a fly drive visiting San Francisco, down the Big Sur highway 1 and Los Angeles areas. It was superb on the city roads, taking me to car parks , points of interest etc. On the UK map it doesnt have my local A78 bypass road around Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston. This has been open since May 2005. The update site is not up to date. overall I am happy with my Tom Tom.
Customer Review: Brilliant, but shop around
Bought this for our tour of Europe in the summer and it really delivered the goods. We visited Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France, and never faltered. (one new road system it was fooled on, but other than that…) The window mount was pretty rubbish, and our campervan has a deep windscreen so it didn’t suit, but I found a wee cubbyhole near the gearstick and used that. We upgraded to the FM transmitter, which allowed us to play our iPod through the radio, and I would highly recommend this (Euro radio stations are rubbish). The nice lady interrupted the music to tell us where to go, and all in all this thing saved my marriage, and allowed us to take a holiday I could never have dreamed of taking 2 or 3 years ago. But shop around. It’s pretty dear, and I although I got mine for ?250 on Amazon, the price varies. Oh, and have a paperclip handy, it has been known to freeze (see other reviews)

Customer Review: Useful accessory
Keeping your Tomtom together and easily accessiible is a very good idea. The Deluxe bag is well made and does what it is intended. However it could have been made a trifle larger as niether the two pockets take the instruction book - the zips are simply not wide enough. I also think an exta pocke could have been easily designed into it for carrying small items - keys etc… and the adjustable strap also needs a shoulder pad to prevent slipping. I also think the use of logos is unecessary and invites crime. But I can understand why the manufacturer is proud to use it on his products. Perhaps a camera gadget bag would be more discrete? But the deluxe bag is really an essential part of the mobility of the Tomtom when you leave the car. I just think the fastening front closing flap is a bit cumbersome to use quickly inside the car when getting out in the usual hurry. So I give it three stars for simplicity of use and four stars for necessity.
