Vivitar DVR-310 Video Camcorder & Camera [3.0MP with 1.5" TFT]
Customer Review: vivitar camcorder 310
I bought this camcorder for my 11 year old son and he is absolutely delighted with it. It is clearly very easy to use and does all that he wants it to do. Small, handy and very user friendly. Excellent value for money.
Customer Review: amazing value for money
i bought this looking for something to record rough videos of me and my friends mucking about at band practice. What i got was far beyond my expectations. This little baby is possibly the greatest purchase i have ever made. For 50 odd quid, you get more than you pay for!
Obviously for a serious enthusiast the 512MB limit is nowhere near enough, but for a superb entry level camera/camcorder, i couldn’t recommend it enough.

Customer Review: Surprised at Picture, no stills really a bonus.
I bought this as a present for my sister and brother in law. As they live abroad I naturally gave it a good test. The idea was for a basic easy to use camcorder. The lack of still features was just one less hassle, they already have a decent digital camera. Well, it turned out to be a doddle to use, but what really surprised me was the picture. On our Panasonic flat screen CRT TV the picture was superb. The ability to play the recorded DVD back straight away, either using a DVD player or through the camera itself is really useful. Once the basics are known there are plenty of features to play around with, but they do not get in the way. The screen and viewfinder worked well, and in sunlight the eyepiece view finder is really useful, it is also easier to hold steady. The only snag was editing as my software, not being the latest, would not take the .VOB files. Anyhow I managed to convert them and edit and found that the image loss from this changing was not anywhere as near as bad as I expected. I subsequently found that current versions of editing software cope with the DVDs directly, so not a problem. Only other faff is the need to prepare RW disks. No big deal and they can be reused. R discs are straight in and certainly worth using for those events you do not not want to accidentally wipe away. Anyhow, as it was a Christmas present it was naturally used at Christmas and the new year, indoor without a lot of light. Again from all the reports I expected this to be terrible. In fact it was the opposite! All in all I was surprised at how well this camera performed. Certainly better than my 12 year old Canon Hi8 which cost over twice this price then!! Most reviews suggest getting the DC100 because of the extra features. I say get the DC95 because it DOES NOT have a load of basically redundant features. I suspect the lack of these ‘extras’ might be helping, but certainly does not hinder the performance of this camera. As for getting the small DVDs. Marks and Spencers own brand. With the groceries in Waitrose.

Customer Review: Terrible software and user docs
Camcorder looks Ok and it’s easy enough to record footage to the camcorders HDD. The problems start when you want to transfer the files to computer. As seems to be the norm these days: The software is poor, the user documentation even poorer. It doesn’t work straight out of the box and so you are left hunting through numerous web sites and forums looking for support. I run Windows Vista and still haven’t got the Camcorder working. It will be going back if I have to waste much more time on it.
Customer Review: poor tech support
The camera itself is superb and i cannot fault it…however the software is a different matter. As soon as i loaded it onto my desktop it wouldnt work, so i loaded it onto my laptop.(both running windows xp home edition(genuine))..on my laptop it worked perfect so i knew it was a set-up problem. When iu eventually got through to sony technical support i explained everything to them and was told that the problem was “your desktop computer isnt a manufadtured model, the problem is because it is a custom build”…..What a load of rubbish, but they would not change their opinion and offered no more assistance. i eventually had to take my computer to local pc shop where it was established that the sony software will not work if you have samsung mobile phone software installed as well…simple as that.. I have also now notices aproblem with my nero software since installing the sony software..

Customer Review: one of best deals I ever made
Hi everybody, I also got one and I love it. Everybody who says its wasted money does not understood the product. It’s HD - High Definition. Before I had the Sanyo Xacti and I spend f***** much money for it to record in HD. The encoder was Mpeg4 and the HD image had many pixels but many bad pixels. Totally too much compressed. A friend of mine told me about aiptek and he showed his videos. I could not believe that I spend 500? more and had worse result. Luckily I could return it and got back my money. Now I have the Z300HD. It makes great videos for a great price. Surly it can’t compare with the big Sony or canon but ?170 for HD Hallo… Does anybody know a better solution o watch HD? I don’t think so ;-))
Customer Review: Fun camcorder to take anywhere with you
Didn’t have any expectations about this product but wanted a cheap HD camcorder to use. This is really easy - just take it out of the box and start using it. It’s also incredibly light to carry around - great for giving to the kids to use. Yes the batteries run down quickly when recording in HD mode but it does come with 2 which is a great help. Had to use the manual to understand all the functionality but you can just point it and film it. Very easy to download to computer too. Would recommend to anyone as an entry model which isn’t too expensive.
