Customer Review: Technology comes cheap…
At ?180 I continue to be amazed by price and quality of technology. “Tape?”, you may ask but as the media is cheap and having found it easy to do basic editting on my PC, I feel justified by the decision not to spend more money on a DVD-model. I selected the MD235 over the MD160 as it was cheaper and I didn’t need a still photo feature. Also, the camera records in widescreen as standard & has an optional mic input which may come in handy in the future. Straight out of the box, I found the camera was easy to use. The camera is light and compact. The zoom is quick and focussing reasonably rapid though low light performance isn’t that good with the “LCD light” practically useless. The playback and image quality is lovely and colours are vibrant and lively. On the LCD, the joystick menu system works better for me than Sony’s touchscreen technology as it’s a easier to navigate the menus. All in all, very pleased and would recommend highly. I also bought DVK-203 Accessory Kit (Extended Life Battery, Carry Case & Tape) which helped get things going too. The camera doesn’t come with a firewire cable so I ordered one too…

I’ve used Lowepro pouches and cases for years, and this is definitely the best pouch series yet. It’s very small, but is well padded and you can use a neck strap or belt attachment. I prefer the belt bit myself, as that fits nicely on to a rucksack waistbelt, or even your trouser belt. It’s a rugged little thing and does the job perfectly. I use it with an Ixus 75, which fits snugly, including a spare battery and card.

I had a Lowepro case for my old Camera and it was good - but this one is even better! I sell these often with Cameras and it makes people laugh when I demonstrate the waterproof cover for it that folds out from a flap on the bottom.

It is sturdy, rugged and my ixus 70 sits snugly in it with room for cards and additional batteries. If black isn’t your colour it is also available in blue.

Customer Review: Another piece of Disney “Cars” garbage
My mom got this for my 5 year-old for his birthday. The main interest was that it is a camera, and of course it was a nice bonus that it had the “Cars” theme. It is absolute junk. We’re currently looking to see if there are any other kid-friendly cameras that will take a half-way decent picture in a similar price-range. You’d be better off just bying a toy camera, at least there is no expectation that you’d get a picture you could make out. If you’d like to get your child another “Cars” toy, just get him/her a toy car. So far, I’d say those are the only “Cars” toys we have that are well made (assuming of course they don’t have lead paint).

this is a really tiny camera. perfect for small hands. it comes with the software system called disney pics. its a really cool program once you figure it out. it was a little complicated even for us adults, and came with no instructions. the kids who are small enough to use the camera won’t be able to use the software system. plus, its a digital camera, but you can’t view your pictures after you take them. i just assumed with a digital camera that you could view the pictures as you take them, but not with this camera. the camera does take good pictures, esp for something so small. and the editing program is good for other purposes. we’ve used it to make invitations. so for the price, its an ok gift. i just wish you could view the pics as you take them.

The Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount for N?vi Series and StreetPilot I Series, C530, C550 and C580 GPS Navigators is an excellent product. It does everything it purports to do. In california these GPS monitors may not be mounted on the windshield and this solves that problem.

Customer Review: I’m extremely pleased with it.
This is my first digital SLR. I did A-level Photography many years ago and used a Pentax SLR so familiar with the concept. I’ve been using a compact digital camera in the last few years but now want to take more adventures and creative pictures.

The E410 I bought came with a DVD which ran thought most of the features which I found extremely helpful.

If you go to youtube and search for E410 you can find reviews from a few camera magazines and one from the Gadget show (channel 5).

I’m extremely pleased with it.

Customer Review: Superb camera
Am a relative beginner in this field. Have been dithering for ages about which DSLR to get and finally ended up with this one. It is superb. I cannot fault it so far, and the photos produced are really excellent quality. My first camera was an Olympus OM10, and nothing has ever quite lived up to it since. Have tried Canon, and whilst impressed with their superb IXUS 40 compact camera, the digital SLRs leave me cold. Too heavy, and not the picture quality I get with this Olympus. The E410 is so light and nifty in comparison. Can imagine taking it out and about, unlike its heavier counterparts. Am not even a serious amateur, but straight from the box this camera was taking superb pin sharp shots, even before I had fully mastered the settings. The only downside is the manual, which I do find confusing at times. However, the superb camera review available on dpreview’s website does answer a lot of my questions. Would suggest a visit there for the low down. They ‘Highly Recommend’ this camera, incidently! One thing they suggest, to increase image sharpness is to turn off the Noise Reduction and set the Sharpness to (-2). I did this and they are right!

Anyway, my advice is to take the plunge, don’t go with the Clunky Canon Crowd. Get a neat and stylish Oly 410 and I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

Sigma software stops DP1 going green
Sigma has announced a series of firmware and software updates for its Foveon-based cameras. The update to its Photo Pro software (for both Mac and Windows), corrects the green tint that could appear at the corner of some DP1 images, it also improves the color reproduction of RAW images from the SD14 DSLR. New firmware for the DP1 adds composition grids for most shooting modes, too.
