Customer Review: Great for children
I bought a load of these for use at my school. They are perfect for children to use(or teachers who are not confident with more expensive cameras); they’re simple to operate and results can be shown immediately in MS Media Player via a USB connection. The only drawback is that they record in motion Jpeg which means that they need converting if you want to use the clips in MS Movie maker - however free software can be downloaded from the internet which can convert the files quickly and easily; then children’s creative side can be truly explored. I would recommend rechargeable batteries because they get through a couple of AA batteries each hour of use.

Customer Review: Good, basic camera
This is a good, basic camera for the price. The picture quality is not superb, but it is not bad as well. The 34x zoom is powerful and does it’s job well. You will have to buy a firewire cable for it. I made the mistake of buying it from Jessops for ?14. I later realized that one could buy it on Amazon for somewhere around ?5. It is a basic camera. For now the Sony DCR-HC27 is on special for ?124 with Amazon and friends that have bought it say that it is excellent. Sony is a leading Japanese brand while Samsung is a Korean brand and not really at the top of the electronics market. I I had to buy a camcorder again I would go for the Sony.
Customer Review: Low Quality Camcorder
I bought the Camcorder from Amazon because I previously had a Hi8 Samsung camcorder, which died. The functionalities of this DV version is very basic and it is made from cheap plastic. It feels like it is going to break anytime soon. I tried it for 10mins and sent it back and I bought the DCR-HC27 sony dv camcorder from Amazon which is excellent. You get what you pay for, u decide. And it did not come with firewire cable or editing software

Oxford Reading Tree: Stage 4: More Stories: Camcorder (Oxford Reading Tree)
Customer Review: Continuing the stories: The family move house
Oxford Reading Tree is a great series of books that encourage and broaden the reading skills of beginner readers. The books are long enough to provide a real story, and short enough to be achievable. Customer Review: good but misleading - you need more than just this camcorder
If you’re buying this MD160 camcorder as an entry level machine for the start of your budding filmmaking career, it can be a bit misleading. This is my first camcorder and after much research of price and formats (harddrive/DVD/miniDV) I settled for this as good value for money, one of the best features not listed on many is the ability to transfer back to a tape in the camcorder once you’re done. The camera itself is fairly easy to use out of the box with a lot of features buried in its options if you want to be more specific about what you want to shoot or want to just play around. I haven’t had a lot of time to shoot videos but you’re going to hit the biggest hurdles out of the box before you even start anyway. It should have been more readily listed by Canon that you need to already have more than just this camcorder to use it, it doesn’t come with a miniDV tape it doesn’t come with a firewire cable the software it does come with is for use with the SDcard feature only, which is also disappointing in that you can only record video in 10-30 second bursts. The main features I wanted were the ability to shoot video transfer it to my PC for editing. Not only do you have to buy a separate firewire cable to connect your new camcorder to your PC to be able to do this. Here’s where the DM160 instruction Manuel leaves you in the lurch, pointing you to refer to your own software for how to do this essential feature. Windows XP (home edition) comes with windows movie maker as standard and fortunately it is very easy to use that program to transfer your recordings (in .wma file format) to your PC (and back) with enough options to make low quality youtube videos or full TV standard. Other programs like Nero and Adobe Premiere (stores in .AVI format - large files though) can also be used. So make sure you have one of them and more importantly a firewire connection on your PC before you buy this camcorder. As not knowing this with camcorder out of the box was very disconcerting and disappointing for me.
Customer Review: Pretty good for the dosh!
Opted for the more expensive MD160 instead of MD101 for firewire connection (and a few other things). Good miniDV camcorder for those who don’t want to spend a fortune and don’t require HD. Doesn’t do low-light well but can live with that. Also no separate battery charger (charges attached to camera) so that is unusual, haven’t had a problem as bought additional hi-capacity battery, might be an issue with standard battery if you want to record more than an 90mins or so. Bought Sony Vegas 8 as well and quite happily downloading to a Vista pc via firewire. If you want bells and whistles (and to spend more money) this is not for you!

Customer Review: I love this camera!
I really do! My sister gave me her old Fujifilm camera when she got this one (in a different colour) and it was like a brick- so naturally I wanted one like hers, and I’m so glad I bought it. Best ?100 I’ve spent in ages.

The camera takes a fantastic picture, and uses software that locates faces and modifies the light around them to improve picture quality and remove red eye. The finish is great- it’s polished and feels smooth in your hands. The camera turns on by sliding open the lens and the whole thing is as easy to use as that.

Other than the colour and the metallic finish, what I really like is the battery. No more hunting around for triple AAA’s, this camera includes a battery more like you would have in your mobile phone, which you remove to charge separately.

The camera comes with everything you need- the right leads and cables, a wrist tag to hold it with- except a case. You’ll want one to stop it getting scratched up. The only other thing you might need is a memory card, but it does already have internal memory, so it really depends on how much space you need.

All in all a great looking camera, easy to use, fantastic picture, and a price you can’t argue with! Five stars.

Nikon D40X Digital SLR Camera With 18-55mm Lens - Black (10.2MP)

Nikon D40X Digital SLR Camera With 18-55mm Lens - Black (10.2MP)
Nikon has revamped the D40?s features to give you even better results with the D40x, voted “Best Entry Level Digital SLR” at the TIPA awards! The D40x has improved image quality and response times, and is just as compact and lightweight as its predecessor. It also has an impressive 10-megapixel sensor, 3D II colour matrix measurement and seven programme modes to produce stunning photos with incomparable detail and quality. Faster than its predecessor, the D40x starts up in just 0.18 seconds with a shutter speed of as little as 0.25 milliseconds, letting you capture all the action! In addition, the timing of the continuous shooting mode has been pushed to the limit of 3 photos per second, which is great for sporting and action shots. Supplied with the AF-S DX 18-55mm lens, which is perfect for the most common settings, the D40x also comes with an EN-EL9 battery and can take up to 520 photos on a single charge. Setting the pace for all other digital SLR cameras, the D40x is a must-have for photographers looking for reflex quality in an easy-to-use camera!

Customer Review: Hmmm …. I do agree …
..with most of the reviews. No wonder Nikon has discontinued this amazing camera. It must have hit sales of the D80 hard, maybe even the D200? This really is an ‘all things to all men (& women) camera, or very nearly at least. Amateur/beginner, point and shoot and off you go, serious amateur, maybe switching from film SLR? This is the camera for you, semi-pro (part time doing Weddings etc) this camera will do the job provided your customer doesn’t want 12 x 16 or 16 x 20 enlargements. This is like going back to my old Bronica SQA days (not that anything will really compare with that beauty). Wedding photographers in the real world sorry, this will get me into trouble, know that the key to premier wedding photos is composition and being able to command a large group of people in a stressful situation. The photography itself? Shoot everything at F8, 60th of a second and use fill in flash - pressing the shutter is the easy bit. That used to be a problem but the D40x ‘talks’ to my Nikon flash and gets it right every time. Doesn’t look professional enough for a wedding? Oh yes it does, get a battery holder, a big lens and an off-camera quality flash gun and it looks the business. OK, it doesn’t have a lot of the D80/D200 gizmos but everything is there in the menus. Maybe not quite as convenient as on camera controls but, if you’re an amateur you’ll likely have the time to set everything up, if you’re experienced, you’ll be using manual or shutter/aperture priority so it’s eminently do-able. You can tell I’m impressed.

Customer Review: Boxed with French, no SD card
Just repacked it. Looks good, just. User manual is in French, the waranty from Neitherlands (but i hope it works in world wide).

The easy-to-use Cyber-Shot DSC-T200 puts all of Sony?s digital photo technology into the palm of your hand!
Customer Review: Took a while to get used to but great camera…
Had been wanting a new high quality compact for a while and went for this one after trying out a friends T100. I really wasn’t sure about the picture quality at first (Particularly landscapes) but after a while I have got used to it and I now think it is really great. Having a touch screen to navigate the options is so much easier than silly buttons and most of the options are actually useful, very good at evening and low light shots, very good for people and really excellent in good light. Another big plus is that it remembers what you last told it to do, rather than having to reprogramme it each time. Flash never great but I don’t like flash photos anyway? Also it is really nice to look at and surprisingly doesn’t feel flimsy.
Customer Review: Bad picture quality
Being a chap that trusts Sony products I was really looking forward to owning the DSC-T200 and assumed that Sony would have made a camera that produced fantastic photos as well as all the bells and whistles. Boy was I wrong! This is a great camera, apart from the fact that the picture quality is totally rubbish. My previous camera was a DSC-P200 (7.2MP) and this utterly trounces the T200 on picture quality. Sony have clearly upped the megapixels but thrown away all that extra data by compressing the image to two thirds the size of the images produced by the P200, what a waste! This produces dull, noisy images with a lot of compression artifacts to try and remove some of the noise. The manager in the Sony Center Croydon quite belligerently commented that in order to get the smile detection, touchscreen etc Sony has compromised on picture quality. Totally unacceptable! Don’t by this if you value your photos.
