The lightweight, compact and easy-to-use VP-D371 W camcorder adds digital quality to all your videos. It includes the same features as the VP-D371, but with a slightly larger 2.7″ screen for recording in 16:9 format. It also records directly to MiniDV format, with clear pictures and rich, deep colours, thanks to its 800,000-pixel CCD sensor. With its 34x optical zoom, the VP-D371 W allows you to film even the most distant subjects as if you had a front-row seat, which is perfect for sporting events, concerts and family reunions, while its digital image stabiliser compensates for camcorder movement when you?re filming or zooming in and out. The VP-D371 W even comes with a host of digital effects such as art, mosaic, sepia or black & white so you can add your own personal touch to your creations, and lets you get to grips with video montage on your computer, thanks to its FireWire output. Representing excellent value for money, the VP-D371 W MiniDV camcorder brings you the best of digital home recording.

Customer Review: Good, basic camera
This is a good, basic camera for the price. The picture quality is not superb, but it is not bad as well. The 34x zoom is powerful and does it’s job well. You will have to buy a firewire cable for it. I made the mistake of buying it from Jessops for ?14. I later realized that one could buy it on Amazon for somewhere around ?5. It is a basic camera. For now the Sony DCR-HC27 is on special for ?124 with Amazon and friends that have bought it say that it is excellent. Sony is a leading Japanese brand while Samsung is a Korean brand and not really at the top of the electronics market. I I had to buy a camcorder again I would go for the Sony.
Customer Review: Low Quality Camcorder
I bought the Camcorder from Amazon because I previously had a Hi8 Samsung camcorder, which died. The functionalities of this DV version is very basic and it is made from cheap plastic. It feels like it is going to break anytime soon. I tried it for 10mins and sent it back and I bought the DCR-HC27 sony dv camcorder from Amazon which is excellent. You get what you pay for, u decide. And it did not come with firewire cable or editing software

Customer Review: Some problems after initial success
Had this camcorder for a few years now. Served me really well and was impressed until recently. Had almost exact problems as described above - disc cage would open itself prompting a ‘press reset button alert’ and the mechanism started chewing tape. Having just got back from a weeks skiing and having the tape of the holiday rendered useless by dodgy chip commands within the camera making the tape turn and simultaneously eject means that i’m now searching for a new camera and certainly no Panasonic. A shame - it was a great bit of kit until the odd error became a consistent occurence.
Customer Review: Great cam, ruined by fault after fault
I actually won this camcorder in a competition so thankfully I didnt spend any money on it, but the money spent in repair after repair after repair for this thing probably was more than the price anyway! It is great quality, good features, but within a year or so I had a lot of faults with the tape assembly (tapes jamming inside, or tape bay refusing to eject), after having these faults fixed then there were problems with the heads (it needed a head cleaning after almost every use!), then the tape assembly started playing up again, then it had a weird software glitch that kept saying “press reset button” which didnt cure it even when you did, then the heads played up again, then the carriage assembly, then the heads… and so on. After it wrecked a mornings shooting this morning (”please clean tape heads” it said, after I had JUST CLEANED THEM!) I was ready to throw this piece of junk out the window. Maybe I just had a dud ex display model as my prize.. I dont know. I certainly wouldnt buy Panasonic again after all these problems.

Customer Review: the not-so-little breadmaker that almost could!
My attempt at humor in the review title is somewhat misleading on purpose. I am quite happy with this model breadmaker, and in my estimation it is a fine product. It does, however, have some flaws that need to really be considered before purchasing. I made my purchase from my local Bon-Ton, where the price was comparable with Amazon without the shipping cost or delivery time. First of all, its a Large unit. The machine is quite beautiul, completely done in brushed silver with black accents. The viewport on top is large enough to see the action in the chamber, and the buttons/led layout is functional, if not a little old fashioned in design. All the parts are quite sturdy and well constructed. There are no worries regarding broken buttons or flimsy construction with this unit. The 2lb bread pan clicks in place easily, and the paddle is quite small and amazingly gets the job done with its innovative shape and design. The included recipe book is also well done. I made a few of their basic recipies (whole wheat bread, plus a modified honey wheat using whole wheat graham flower instead of whole wheat) I also made a delicious 2lb cinnamon raisin loaf I found a recipe for on about.com. my main gripe with this unit: I have two. one is major, one minor. My major gripe has been addressed several times on this forum, and that’s the crust consistancy. When I made the recipes that came with the unit, the crusts came out as expected but a little hard. My raisin bread was set to medium and actually burned the crust. it was edible and quite delicious, but it was a little disheartening to open up the access door when the done buzzer sounded to be greeted with a billow of smoke. I feel I can work around this by keeping the crust at low, and potentially taking the bread out early once I learn to judge exactly which cycles seem to burn the bread. my minor gripe: As another reviewer pointed out, The cycles are hard coded and there is no stopping one, starting another. This doesn’t affect me so much since I am a novice baker, and I basically stick to the recipies. All in All, This is a good machine. The burning crust issue is enough for me to consider a breadman unit, but I think I will do more testing with different recipes before giving up on this unit. Today I think I’ll make a rustic italian loaf and see how that gets.
    Customer Review: Cusinart Bread Machine
I have only 1 complaint about the Bread Machine. That is the handle on the Bread pan. It tears up the Bread getting it out of the pan.Otherwise it is a very good product. So I gave it a 4 star.

Customer Review: Fantastic
What can i say, Got one in black, Look’s and feel’s so good you allmost want to put it on display, Look’s better than the FX33 due to some better design features, Silver strip on front, joystick etc, And the 3in screen is just a pleasure, Very happy with it

Customer Review: Point & Shoot - but do you really need the 3″ screen?
I love photography, and I love to have control over the image-taking process. However, control over a compact digital camera is a rather fruitless affair because there is so much depth of field to the images. So, given the creative limitations that you naturally have with compacts, what should you be looking for? Well, sharp images, good colour, ease-of-use, compactness, good build quality and a nice field of view range.

The stand-out part of this camera is probably the Leica lens. 28-100 is the perfect range. A nice wide angle for indoor and landscape shots up to a very useable telephoto end. Range aside, the lens also has a very good Image Stablisation feature (far better in the lens than on the sensor!). The lens is superb, giving lovely sharpness and colour as well as perfectly reasonable light-gathering ability in low-light conditions. That, coupled with the Image Stabilisation means that the camera is very useful in parties and other low-lit situations - with or without the flash. Speaking of the flash, it does a nice job without washing out all features. No more eyeballs and nostril pics.

Also nice are the three aspects - traditional photoframe and two “widescreen” modes — very nice for playback on TVs/monitors and impactful panaromas.

The Panasonic doesn’t offer you much by way of control, but it does offer PIC modes. These help, but I found that the full-auto iA mode is very good at working out what you’re trying to achieve - especially when you enable the face detection mode. The Image Stabilisation works very well and the high ISO noise, although not as well resolved as say the Fuji F31 or Canon models, is not as bad as previous Panasonics (”Venus as a noise” as Bjork once said — but the Venus III engine is certainly better than previous incarnations). The noise is certainly there at ISO 400, but no more than if you used ISO 400 film. On a 6×4 print, the noise would be more than acceptable. Even upto ISO1250, the noise is perfectly acceptable - especially at sensible print sizes. An ISO1250 shot might not be the best option for a 12×10 print, but then no compact would really give you that without some PC-work (and probably turning to black and white). For real world situations, I’m not put off by the noise.

Despite all these good points, I would recommend the DMC FX33 model over this model (the DMC FX55); they are identical other than a 0.5″ larger viewing screen on the 55. The price difference is, I think, too much for very little extra benefit. The larger screen may help if your eyesight is weak, but otherwise, there is nothing between the functionality of the 33 and the 55.

I bought the Panasonic DMC FX33 camera for my parents who wanted a simple to use P&S camera. The 33 camera ticks all the boxes and provides very good images. The included software is more than adequate and also pretty easy to use.

If your photographic needs are to have a neat, stylish camera which takes excellent shots without any user-intervention, the DMC FX33/55 is for you. If you want full creative control, I would say that you won’t really get it without going for a DSLR. Depth of field control on a compact with a small sensor is not possible - fine if you want lots of DoF, but not so for shallow DoF. So, buy the camera in the knowledge that it has loads of good points, one so-so point in the noise.

If it’s a compact you want, certainly put this on your shortlist and try it out against the competition, but be sure to compare it to its equally good and cheaper stablemate, the DMC FX33!

Customer Review: Great non-techy book
This book offers the novice and advanced user a non-technical approach without diminishing the important aspects. I am new to Photoshop and within 5 minutes of reading the first chapter, I could make a contact sheet and went forward from there, I’d recommend this book to any one who wants to learn Photoshop without all the technical jargon.
