Customer Review: GREAT Camcorder poor software
I brought the camcorder after checking out the spec and other reviews. The flash card camcorders produce poor picture quality and the in built hard drive recorders were way too expensive. The one is simply great, Picture quality on my 40 inch LCD is superb. One downside stopped me giving full 5 stars. I too have problems with the recorder communicating with the computer direct. However, putting the camcorder DVD into the computer allows full editing using a programme like power director. My advice if you are looking for a cheap reliable camcorder go for it!!!
Customer Review: Camcorder good, software useless
Camcorder works very well, easy to use, but when it comes to downloading to the computer for editing, the camcorder and software do not perform at all, I have been unable to edit any of the dvds as the camcorder will not connect to the computer and the technical support on the website is sadly lacking.

Customer Review: Pleasantly suprised
Read all the reviews first and then went for it. Delivery was prompt and painless. Tried out the recorder and thought it was well worth the money.I was greatly impressed with the 40plus telephoto lens and the image stabiliser both were excellent. But do get a firewire cable to download your video to your hard disk. The fact that Sony didn’t include it didn’t bother me.I had to pay about ?4 for one and it works well.As I am not planning to go for an Oscar anytime soon, I’m happy with it. So my advice? Go on–you know you want to!
Customer Review: Great value camcorder
I am very happy with this purchase - I didn’t want to spend much on a camcorder, but I wanted something easy to use and set up, with decent enough quality for playback on a computer. This does the job for not very much money. The only gripe I have with this is that it isn’t exactly designed to work with Macs. don’t get me wrong - once I had bought the correct Firewire, it worked perfectly well with iMovie on my Macbook Pro, but the software it comes with is Windows only and there is no attempt at providing help with a Mac set-up. That said, this is probably one of the few that seems to work with a Mac… Overall - i would certainly recommend buying it as a cheap and cheerful way into the camcorder market.

Customer Review: Brilliant Easy to Use Camcorder
I bought this camcorder in December and it was the best camcorder i have used! For a DVD camcorder this is brilliant as it uses Optical Image Stabilisation which corrects any potential handshake when shooting, the zoom is more than enough when filming any type of shot, and when I have finished I simply popped it into the DVD player so my family and I could re watch our special Xmas Day all over again
Customer Review: Good camera - if you can view the pictures
As a novice to DVD camcorders, I obviously didn’t research the right things. This camera is easy to use, BUT if you record in Video Recording format (VR) which is the only way you can use the built in software to edit your film, then the results can’t be viewed on your computer unless you have Power DVD, aren’t compatible with Windows Movie Maker, and can’t be viewed on most DVD players. It took me two days of trawling through web forums to work this out, as the instruction book only says “can be played on compatible…” without being at all specific. If you record in video format, you can watch on your DVD player, or on your computer, but can’t edit in the camera, and the files are still not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. So - I will need to buy software to convert, edit and then burn back to DVD. I’m currently looking at AVS - any advice would be welcome.

Photo Idea Index: Explore New Ways to Capture and Create Exceptional Images with Digital Cameras and Software (Index)
Customer Review: Does exactly what it says
What really grabbed me was the note on the back cover that all the images in the book were taken specifically for the book. In other words the author came up with ideas (sometimes original, sometimes old) and went out and took photos to demonstrate those ideas. This results in a genuine, credible book where the text really ties very closely to the photos. I hate those books where some very contrived text tries to tie a technique or concept to some stock photo - they give the feeling that the author has thrown together text and photos for the sake of making a “complete” book.

It also claims that most photos are taken with a pocket digital camera with a minority on a Digital SLR. Again this gives the book credibility as an “ideas” book.

It is grouped into sections that provide an easy flow but you can just as easily dip into random pages. The fact that the author is a graphic designer shows through in the clean crisp layouts.

Basically, this has got me into the habit of carrying my camera all the time and looking at everything with a creative eye. A very inspirational book.

Adobe Camera Raw for Digital Photographers Only (For Only)

Adobe Camera Raw for Digital Photographers Only (For Only)
Customer Review: Please note - this book is for Camera Raw in CS3
This looks to be a great book. Unfortunately in the section where it goes into camera Raw in great detail, it seems to be using the version in Photoshop CS3 and says there are “substantial updates” between that and the one in CS2. I have CS2, and I didn’t see any reference to which version of Camera raw this book uses before buying it. I even looked at the back cover in the “look inside!” feature but it didn’t specify.

This book will definitely be useful to anyone with CS3. It will be nearly as useful to someone with CS2 but some parts may not be 100% relevant. I’m only in chapter 5 (and I skipped a lot of chapter 4 which was describing the layout of Camera Raw) but already I know it’s a worthwhile book to have. I’m just hoping most of the rest of it is applicable to CS2 as I can’t afford the upgrade at the moment.

Customer Review: Fantastic for all levels.
Not many things I’ve bought on Amazon (just a beginner) but this one had to be bought after seeing the table of contents.

Always been with a Sony DSC-F717 thinking I was the king of the world until I did the big step, bought a Canon 30D thinking I knew everything. Didn’t even know what RAW meant!

I decided to buy this book (together with another one about taking better pictures) given the fact that I was completely useless at DSLR.

Well, this book will give almost no information about how to take better pictures, but that is not what it is meant for. If what you are looking for is to know how to mold your RAW files with Camera Raw bingo, you hit the right place!

This book brings you from knowing zero about RAW photography to actually making you feel comfortable about opening RAW files and going for the real perfectionism. On the process it will give you very, very good info on all kind of details (simple as well as complex) and most of all, even better than the subject itself, the fact that the author really CARES about you learning and trying to give you the self confidence needed to try out things without fear.

Excellent, simply excellent. Thank you.
