Nikon has revamped the D40?s features to give you even better results with the D40x, voted “Best Entry Level Digital SLR” at the TIPA awards! The D40x has improved image quality and response times, and is just as compact and lightweight as its predecessor. It also has an impressive 10-megapixel sensor, 3D II colour matrix measurement and seven programme modes to produce stunning photos with incomparable detail and quality. Faster than its predecessor, the D40x starts up in just 0.18 seconds with a shutter speed of as little as 0.25 milliseconds, letting you capture all the action! In addition, the timing of the continuous shooting mode has been pushed to the limit of 3 photos per second, which is great for sporting and action shots. Supplied with the AF-S DX 18-55mm lens, which is perfect for the most common settings, the D40x also comes with an EN-EL9 battery and can take up to 520 photos on a single charge. Setting the pace for all other digital SLR cameras, the D40x is a must-have for photographers looking for reflex quality in an easy-to-use camera!

Customer Review: Hmmm …. I do agree …
..with most of the reviews. No wonder Nikon has discontinued this amazing camera. It must have hit sales of the D80 hard, maybe even the D200? This really is an ‘all things to all men (& women) camera, or very nearly at least. Amateur/beginner, point and shoot and off you go, serious amateur, maybe switching from film SLR? This is the camera for you, semi-pro (part time doing Weddings etc) this camera will do the job provided your customer doesn’t want 12 x 16 or 16 x 20 enlargements. This is like going back to my old Bronica SQA days (not that anything will really compare with that beauty). Wedding photographers in the real world sorry, this will get me into trouble, know that the key to premier wedding photos is composition and being able to command a large group of people in a stressful situation. The photography itself? Shoot everything at F8, 60th of a second and use fill in flash - pressing the shutter is the easy bit. That used to be a problem but the D40x ‘talks’ to my Nikon flash and gets it right every time. Doesn’t look professional enough for a wedding? Oh yes it does, get a battery holder, a big lens and an off-camera quality flash gun and it looks the business. OK, it doesn’t have a lot of the D80/D200 gizmos but everything is there in the menus. Maybe not quite as convenient as on camera controls but, if you’re an amateur you’ll likely have the time to set everything up, if you’re experienced, you’ll be using manual or shutter/aperture priority so it’s eminently do-able. You can tell I’m impressed.
Customer Review: Boxed with French, no SD card
Just repacked it. Looks good, just. User manual is in French, the waranty from Neitherlands (but i hope it works in world wide).

Customer Review: Good camera, awful lens cap
I’ve owned a Powershot G6 camera for a couple of years. It’s very easy to hold and use. It allows full manual control and is capable of high quality images. The LCD display swivels to almost any angle, which is very useful. I’m happy with the camera, but I find the shutter delay is long and the lens cap is awful, being incapable of staying on the camera.
Customer Review: Canon Powershot G6
Graduated to this from a Canon A40. The G6 is a different beast. Picture quality is excellent and the full automatic mode works extremely well most of the time. Even better results can be obtained for more challenging shots by using the manual over-rise or semi-automatic modes. With practice I have found the shutter speed priority auto mode very useful. In common with all high spec digital cameras, the menu structure and photo options are complex and take some getting used to but this is an excellent camera for the advanced amateur and only a small step below a digital SLR. Only a small number of niggles, the on-off switch is badly positioned and can get turned on accidentally when going back in the case. Annoying but not terminal. Similarly the settings knob can get turned from the setting it was left on too easily. Good points are the powerful flash with external hot shoe, aperture and shutter priority auto modes and general picture quality. Battery life is also excellent. Highly recommended for the keen amateur.

Aiptek AHD200 High Definition Camcorder

Aiptek AHD200 High Definition Camcorder
Customer Review: Don’t Buy This
I can’t agree more with the review titled “garbage”. What does everyone see in this dreadful American sub standard piece of well yes garbage.

The bad points; The focus is slow, the stills pictures can take up to 2 seconds to take after pressing the button, the playback sound is barely audible at times and sounds like the mic has a pillow over it, there is no anti shake so the the playback (pointlessly in HD) is very jittery, some sd cards lock the camera out and battery removal is the only way of correcting, the battery cover slips off during recording, the zoom is useless, the .mov format seems to be incompatible with all pc software.

The Good points; its small, it comes with a case.

Utter rubbish, wake up, it might only cost ?140 but your memories will be unwatchable. I sent mine back for a full refund and I will never forget the old clich? you get what you pay for!

Customer Review: Garbage
God alone knows what everyone sees in this. Records no better than the movie function on a decent digital camera, and the software with it is problematic as well. Yes, it does convert .mov to Windows, but only to view - you can’t save it to .mpg, so you can’t edit in any software that comes with a PC. You’ll also not be able to see thumbnails of the video, and if you change the file name so that you can remember what the video is the camera won’t see it, so you can’t play it back via an HD TV (which is surely the point of an HD camcorder).

There’s a video editor that comes on the CD, but it refuses to accept the Serial Number that’s on the box, so I can’t even install it!

If you’re the sort of person who loves faffing around with conversion software in an attempt to get this into a format you can actually use, then you’ll have a ball. If you’ve got a life & you just wanted a camera you could take half decent shots with & view on DVD/PC in no time, avoid this like the plague.

Customer Review: JVC GRD-760 - review
In auto mode (if the auto focus works properly) in day light the camcorder has great picture and is pin sharp. But in very bright scenes the colours can be washed out as the camcorder doesn’t automatically get darker to compensate for the brighter scene so you loose detail in what ever your videoing. Battery charging is very simple and easy, you press the Data button and you can instantly see battery life. I love the graphics which show battery life, but the battery doesn’t last that long. Viewing the tape. —————– Move the selector to play mode, viewing the tape is easy to do but what is annoying is you can easily move the joystick to another position and instead of viewing the tape, you switch the camcorder lamp on or if you want to run the tape and normal speed you can do that instead the tape rewinds or fast forwards, that’s annoying and the camcorder should have had buttons inside it for rewinds, fast forwards and play. Did try editing the tape as the joystick didn’t feel to strong. Auto focus ———- Auto focus isn’t fast, even in daylight it some times gets confused and tends to “hunt” around until it gets a lock on (which means you could loose a once in a life time moment) If you point it at the sky to video a plane or helicopter flying in the distance, Auto focus can’t do it as it just hunts around for it. In low light or at night (unless there is bright spot some where) Auto focus is utter rubbish. The macro feature is good but the auto focus lets it down badly as it cant lock on fast enough and when it does, it doesnt stay locked on. i.e. If you video a flower gently moving in the wind with a bumble bee landing on it. As the flower moves in the gentle breeze the auto focus looses focus for a bit and then has trouble locking back on to it. Image stabilisation is great but this only works when the auto focus works properly. If the auto focus is having trouble Image stabilisation wont fix the problem. I want some thing which I can trust 100% of the time and which works with out me worrying about it, this doesn’t work that well and I can’t trust it. Controls ——– Controls are very easy to use and are laid out ok, it took me a short while to master them. Going from 16.9 to 4.3 is at push of a button on the LCD screen and is very easy, the camera works it all out for you. If you take a photo the camera automatically switches off Image stabilisation and 16.9 mode while the photo is being taken and puts them all back when its finished to allow normal video to be taken, that’s great. Once you set the camcorder up, you never need to do it again. Accessing more detailed menus is a real pain as the instruction manual isn’t that clear and controls on the camcorder don’t help much in this way, so it can takes ages to find a menu which adjusts low level stuff such as 12 bit or 16 bit sound. If you want to take picture it will not happen instantly, there is bad shutter lag which again means you loose that once in a life time moment, so better have your SLR camera handy if your going to do this. Also the picture quality on the JVC isn’t that good or clear. It has a great feature where you can take a photo and it automatically saves it to SD card at the same time as you videoing other things, this is good. Low light performance ——————— In auto mode indoors including at night with lights switched on in the room the camcorder gives good images. If go in to the garden at twilight the image is ok-ish. But the auto focus lets it down as it can get confused. Some times the lamp comes on (when you didn’t ask it to), that’s very annoying if your filming some thing like a wild animal which doesn’t need to see you. When you switch to manual and go to twilight mode this isn’t that good as images can be blurry at times as the camera looses focus lock, the one for ultra low light (which has an owl symbol) is a pile of utter kak. Its useless for capturing any thing moving in crisp clear fashion all you see are wavy lines all over the place or blurry moving imagines unless your filming a lit up building then its crisp and clear (so useless for making a movie at night). Best feature of this camcorder is build quality, that is great and has a solid well built quality feel and looks like it will give countless years of service, the LCD hinge looks like its heavy duty stuff and the clasp to keep it next to the camera is a great feature. Conclusion ———- I was really looking forward to this camcorder as I read a few good reviews but after having it for a few days I was very dissappointed by it. The main thing a camcorder needs is a good auto focus system as your recording moving images, this hasnt got it. JVC’s engineers need to give this camcorder more auto focus points = camcorder can “see” better. They also need give the camcorder’s computer better software which will allow it to lock on to a subject and not let it go if it moves. Auto focus and low light performance let this camcorder down very badly. Its no use having a camcorder which looks good, is well made, has a lot of toys to play with and (when the auto focus works properly) has pin sharp images if it cant auto focus and give pin sharp images all the time. The JVC only does it around 60-70% of the time, that’s no good for those once in a life time movies such your kid having her birthday etc or saying those first words or capturing images of you and your brother from New Zealand (who you haven’t seen in 20 years) seeing each other at the airport for the first time you need a camcorder which will record them. If you want a decent camcorder which will give good video, better to look else where. The Samsung VPD375W has very similar features to the JVC GRD760 but the Samsung has better auto focus which 97% of the time locks on and stays locked, the JVC can only do that 60-70% of the time. The Sony HC37 and 45 are similar priced as the JVC and Samsung, These Sonys are great camcorders but don’t have all the features of Samsung or JVC have such as taking pictures and video. The DVD and HDD Sonys have features of the Samsung and JVC but they cost 2-3 times as much. ************************************** Good points :- Looks good and has some chrome around it so has a bling factor. Great solid build quality which will last for years. (if the auto focus works properly) in day light pin sharp video with no grainy-ness. (if the auto focus works properly) good Image stabilisation Easy to use and setup. Bad points :- Auto focus lets it down extremely badly in lot of the areas I filmed in. Overall bad low light performance. JVC eats power so you’ll need to recharge it a lot. Doesn’t come with firewire cable. Washed out colours in daylight. Accessing detailed menus is a real pain. Camcorder manual isn’t that detailed. By e-mail JVC customer service is very slow and getting back to you and most don’t know enough about the product. If you call them its an 0870 number which is very expensive.

Canon FS100 Digital Camcorder (45 x Advanced Zoom With 2.7″ Widescreen Colour LCD)

Customer Review: Pretty good!
I got this camera a few weeks back, and I have to say that I’ve been delighted with the results. As has been mentioned before, the picture quality drops in very low light situations, and if you want to film on the highest zooms then you’ll need steadier hands than mine(or a tripod)! But, all in all it’s worked very well for me indoors and out.

One of the appeals of flash memory for me is the ease of transferring video on to a laptop. I can’t comment on how it performs with a card reader, but the device itself imports the data quickly and with the minimum of fuss, although you have to keep the camera plugged in to the mains whilst you do it. I’d read that some people had had issues importing to iMovie on a Mac - no problems here for me.

I’m not too sure why Canon have bothered with the FS10 & 11 models as the price of flash storage makes them overly expensive, but that’s their decision!

All in all, if you’re looking for a very compact, lightweight, easy to use and cheap flash memory camcorder, you could do a lot worse than this little number.

Customer Review: Grainy and lots of noice at low light
I bought this camcorder because of the Canon’s reputation for poor light performance, but I am disappointed, too grainy and lots of noice at low lit situations. Avoid this if you want to do filming indoors.

good points are ,

very good quality at ideal lighting conditions

Zoom is very good( I can’t find much quality difference at say 1X and at 45X).

Customer Review: Excellent quality in proper lighting, compact
Worlds smallest 3ccd camcorder, very lite, compact, joystick is a real help, colors are unbelieavable in daylight. I like the GS150 and it gets my recommendation for anyone wanting top-notch videos. However, if you do a lot of low light shooting, it’s probably not the best choice (then again, I still haven’t found a camcorder that truly excels in this area). The GS150 offers a whole lot of camcorder for not a lot of money. What I liked: Great video quality (in good lighting) 3 CCDs for very little money Compact, easy-to-hold body Menus have been redesigned and are easy to use Many manual controls Built-in flash Built-in lens cover Top-loading tape mechanism Two remote controls included Impressive battery life Best deal for the price tag this cam has, BETTER THAN NV 120 What I didn’t like: Poor low light performance; Magicpix basically useless Still quality is good but not excellent.

hi, i just bought the hitachi dzbd7he blu ray cam i cannot see how anyone can give this cam anything but 5 stars, ive tried every thing on it different light inside shops zoom burned to disc on cam and playback on tv is 1080p well pleased.i done what the other 2 done it is not the camcorders fault it is pixmania as they advertized wrong, the code was for hitachi 300 not the blu ray camcorder,as the 300 was ?245 the blu ray was ?835,it was a mix up on pixmania they was wrong.isent back 3 300 cams they would not send the blu ray i hope this clears up about the blu ray, again i am very pleased ps i dont work for hitachi thanks.
Customer Review: Amazing
I don’t see how anyone can give a bad rating because they had the wrong item delivered. What has that got to do with the camcorder? Anyway this is a great piece of kit, easy to use and takes good Blu Ray 1080 resolution. The menu is easy to navigate and instruction book easy to follow. Would thoroughly reccommend this item.
