Customer Review: Worth persevering – unless you have a short fuse
Good stuff first:
The user interface is easy to pick up, and very intuitive. The range of tasks you can do is wide enough to satisfy most users, and the tutorials are clear without being over-burdened with detail.
Output quality is great.
Now the bad:
Unless you drive a graphics workstation, the lag on anything – and I mean even the slightest adjustment – will drive you crazy. I have 1Gb RAM, and 2GHz processor, and a 256Mb graphics card, and each time I move the cursor a few frames along the timeline the program stops to think for up to two minutes.
Next, the reason I bought a Sony product was to get around the stupid Sony format that the transferred files are in when you download them from the DV to the PC. You know, Video_TS etc.
This application doesn’t recognise these files!
So you still need to do that nonsense of saving the files without having finalised the disk, and them re-save them with a different file extension, ie save as .wma instead of .vob.
Why, you dumb-bells, did you not fix this, so I can use my SONY camcorder with the SONY software…
However, once I get over the angst of this latter issue, and once I get my new speed machine, this is the best sub-?50 editing suite, IMHO.

Customer Review: Great little bag
This was the cheapest camcorder bag I could find, not that it shows. The build quality is top notch. The bag feels robust and hard-wearing and has enough padding to protect the contents from minor knocks. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is just the right size to accommodate not only my MV930 camcorder, but my Ixus 550 too, meaning I only need to take one bag with me on a day out. There’s still room for a couple of mini DV tapes inside the bag and everything fits snugly with no rattling around. The pouch on the front offers ample room for other essential items – a couple of spare batteries, compact flash cards, mini-tripod, lens brush and a video cable. Suits my needs perfectly. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Technology comes cheap…
At ?180 I continue to be amazed by price and quality of technology. “Tape?”, you may ask but as the media is cheap and having found it easy to do basic editting on my PC, I feel justified by the decision not to spend more money on a DVD-model. I selected the MD235 over the MD160 as it was cheaper and I didn’t need a still photo feature. Also, the camera records in widescreen as standard & has an optional mic input which may come in handy in the future. Straight out of the box, I found the camera was easy to use. The camera is light and compact. The zoom is quick and focussing reasonably rapid though low light performance isn’t that good with the “LCD light” practically useless. The playback and image quality is lovely and colours are vibrant and lively. On the LCD, the joystick menu system works better for me than Sony’s touchscreen technology as it’s a easier to navigate the menus. All in all, very pleased and would recommend highly. I also bought DVK-203 Accessory Kit (Extended Life Battery, Carry Case & Tape) which helped get things going too. The camera doesn’t come with a firewire cable so I ordered one too…
