Sony proudly presents the Cyber-shot DSC-H3. With its 10x optical zoom capability, this digital camera is undoubtedly the smallest model in the Cyber-shot range with such a powerful zoom. Customer Review: There is something in a name
How I wish i could take the plunge and buy some no-name brand electronic and be blown away, but truth be told, after months and months of research, it always comes down to the best known brands. And for good reason. This camera was the right choice. I didn’t want the bulk of an SLR but the flat square “fit in your pocket” point-and-shoot is just far too simplified for my grand photography attempts :) So my final decision came between this one, the Panasonic Lumix FZ-18 or the Lumix TZ3. FZ18 was just that little bit tooooo big for convenience, and the Lumix TZ3 flash was a little too bright. The picture quality of the Sony H3 is grand! The zoom on screen seems a little underachieving, but when you download the pics to your pc, the zoom truly is excellent!! The flash can be set from -2 to +2 so you indoor portraits are not overexposed as with alot of compact cameras. There are various scene settings like snow, beach (which works great on the beach…funnily enough) landscape, fireworks etc. Then you have fully automatic…which is fully automatic (duh) and then you have M and P modes. which allow you more control, exposure settings, apeture priority, etc. My pictures are great, i will upload some soon so you can see! Every review should have a negative point, no matter how trivial, so here are mine. You cannot set the white balance by metering. There are presets, but you cannot meter it yourself. Not tragic but i do feel its a little bit of a let down. If i had the choice to choose another camera in retrospect, would i? most definitely not! Sony is fast becoming my favourite brand, almost against my will ;-)
Customer Review: Great camera
I bought this camera as my first camera. I’ve had little experience with cameras before but this camera makes things easy. I love the way this camera looks. It certainly isn’t designed to slide into your pocket, or look cute in your handbag, but it looks the business. I found that just using the auto setting, i could get great photos, straight out of the box, no messing around. However, if you’re wiling to experiment with the manual settings, you can achieve some fantastic effects. At first i felt daunted by the manual settings, not really knowing what each function would do, but for the most part the screen shows you how the function will effect the picture as you change the settings. The macro function is amazing, and the digital zoom makes distant pictures easy too. A brilliant camera whether you want to just take snap shots or whether you want to experiment.

Customer Review: North Cape
Was a Christmas Gift, but only tried out since, but visited Norway recently up to North Cape ‘Midnight Sun’.The results are all I hoped for. But,the finest results were on quality gloss paper. Well worth the price
Customer Review: Well… i liked it
Yes. This thing eats batteries like a b*tch, but that really didnt bother me, because this little thing comes with a viewing window, so you dont need to use the screen, which is what drain all the power. Make sure you only use 2700 MAH batteries, or brand new 2500’s with it otherwise, even with the screen off you’ll have 60 second flash charge times!!! Once i got the right batteries for it, and PLENTY of them, you really cant not help but love this camera. It comes with shutter speed, and aperture controlls, which is very good for the sort of photo you want to get absolutely perfect. I wouldnt recomend this camera for “spur of the moment” shots though, just becasue of its legnthy flash charge times, but thius camera ticks allot of my boxes. Viewing window apature and shutter speed controll 8 megapixel 3X zoom Cheap!

Customer Review: The book you have been waiting for!
Simon Stafford’s technical articles that appear in Nikon Owner magazine have become a byword for excellence. They are both informative and thorough. His growing list of titles is impressive. The complexities of the sophisticated Nikon flash system are often a barrier to newcomers to photography as well as the more advanced photographers. In this first rate volume Stafford brings his considerable skills to bear to guide you through the Nikon Creative Lighting System. I keep a copy (well thumbed) on my desk within easy reach. Highly recommended

The Canon Eos 300D Digital Camera: All You Need to Know - 5 book pack

The Canon Eos 300D Digital Camera: All You Need to Know - 5 book pack
Customer Review: Avoid!
I don’t know what the other books in this pack are like, but as they’ve used a book I’ve already reviewed for the main feature, I can’t hold out much hope for the rest of the package. Or, and this is a horrible thought, are there five of the same book? Owning one is bad enough, why would anyone want five for goodness sake? Amazon must have a stack of them cluttering up the warehouse and are desperate to shift them! The paragraph below is my review of the featured book, when sold singly, which I posted three years ago. See also other reviews on the appropriate page if you’re in any doubt.

‘I usually read reviews before purchasing. In this case I didn’t but wish I had. This is THE MOST pointless book I’ve ever bought. It should be aimed at children and called ‘My First Camera Book’. It only covers the blindingly obvious, stuff I’d sussed within an hour of first receiving my 300D. Avoid disappointment, this is CRAP.’

How to Do Everything with Your Digital Camera, Fourth Edition (How to Do Everything)

How to Do Everything with Your Digital Camera, Fourth Edition (How to Do Everything)
Customer Review: How to Do Everything with Your Digital Camera 2/e
A great and easy to follow book ( like all in the series)

A shame it will go out of date quickly as cameras become more powerful

Customer Review: The title says it all
I wish that I had found this book when I first started digital photography. Although I had been using a 35 mm film camera for many years, Cannon SLR plus lenses, there are differences and it is finding the differences and how to use them to best advantage that is important. This book spells it all out for novice and more advanced users alike. Most of the requisite skills are well covered. There are one or two omissions, whether by accident or design I do not know, but they do not detract from the book as a whole. If you have just started out on the digital experience, or are contemplating so doing, this is the book that is worth buying. There are many books at far higher prices that just do not cover the subject matter so well. As has been said in another review, it also covers Paint Shop Pro and this is a far more likely purchase than Photoshop, costing as it does, merely a fraction of the price of Photoshop and for many people, just as good. My advice is, buy it. you will not regret it.

Digital Photography Beyond the Camera: Expert Photoshop and Digital Know-how for Top-quality Images and Prints

Digital Photography Beyond the Camera: Expert Photoshop and Digital Know-how for Top-quality Images and Prints

Customer Review: Super ! How did I do without it ???
For this price, this lens is a steal. I checked a lot of reviews and searched a lot of articles in my endeavors to buy a prime lens. I have a D40 and was apprehensive that this would not work with a D40. Luckily and happily, my apprehensions never came to life. The lens works very well with a D40 also…although you need to focus manually. I am a relative novice and it did not strike me that when you mount the lens on a D40, it will always ask you to set the aperture to the highest value. At first I thought that once I set the aperture to the highest, I would be unable to use f/1.8 - what I did not realise was that the moment you mount this on a D40, the aperture opens to the lowest value ( fully open f/1.8 ) Low light pics are a beauty with this lens, even at ISO 400. I did some candle light photography and I was amazed that I could click photos at ISO 800 without a tripod !!! If you dont already have this lens, go and get one. If you are at a party and need to take pics, you will NEVER need flash !!!
Customer Review: Essential kit
Firstly this lens is as sharp as a tack, and the image quality could not be better if they tried. If you’re looking for results then you’ll be hard pressed to find a better 50mm lens at ANY price. The build quality is very plasticky. Is this a problem? No. How much rough’n'tough do you expose your equipment to on a daily basis? Besides, the compact build is so tight that I doubt this lens would break if you dropped it! The autofocus is surprisingly loud for such a small lens, but it is snappy and always gets it right! I’d highly recommend this lens to everyone, its a fantastic addition and at such a low price it’s definitely worth more than you pay for it!

Customer Review: Digital
This is certainly not a book that could be described as Nikon for idiots or anything remotely close. There is an assumption that you have a reasonable knowledege of digital photography before you begin, which is a bit surprising as Nikon market this camera for the beginner. That said the book is not difficult to follow, providing you have the base knowledge, but not the sort of book for bedtime, it wakes you up!
