Having read the reviews on this item i was in 2 minds on taking a chance as it was a bargain price.
In the end what the hell i can always return it,when it arrived i connected it up to my GZ-MG175 camcorder and set about doing a DVD of Christmas.In 30 mins i had a DVD of Christmas.
It was so easy to use with the menus on the camcorder.
The disks i use are Verbatim DVD -R.
Customer Review: Should have listened to everyone else!
Recently purchased a JVC Everio H/D camcorder and was having problems coping onto disc on my computer so purchased this item as thought it was a bargain! did read a few negative reviews but thought they must be doing something wrong ! When I tried to burn my disc got exactly the same message - “incompatable disc” tried every type of disc going and eventually rang JVC helpline who were most unhelpful and said it must be a faulty burner and to return it (which I have now done!) when I said to them that I had read of a number of people having the same problem they just said “it doesn’t surprise me, we sell thousands of them and you aren’t just going to get one or two that are faulty!” .. mmm. helpful.. thanks !!
So my advice would be DON’T BOTHER, save yourself the hassle!

Customer Review: Not what I expected
I brought this camera for our family holiday in August 07. When trying to record in the evening when it was quite humid the camera cut out several times even when there was full battery and got very hot to touch. Tried to format discs on holiday and the camera would not do this therefore I missed out on many memories on holiday. Even when I returned home to record a birthday party, I tried to format another disc and the camera kept saying disc error. I have returned the camera and had a full refund. Apart from my problems the camera was good to use when it worked, but I think I will be opting for a different model.
Customer Review: Brilliant value dvd camcorder!!!
Having looked through all sorts of reviews since Christmas I took my courage in both hands and ordered a SamsungVP-DC163/XEU.I had owned a couple of Samsungs(hi8)before but the hassle of transferring tape to dvd had put me off!It took only 3 days for Amazon to get it to me and I am delighted with the camcorder. Colours are good both in daylight and indoors in artificial or low light conditions, images are sharp and focus is only a bit iffy in very low light(so I used the manual focus instead). The instruction booklet is easy to understand. The position of the control buttons on the camera are logical and easy to operate. Battery life seems a bit short but probably because I used the screen rather than viewfinder so I’ve ordered a longer life battery.All in all I can’t wait for my next holiday to really explore the possibilities of this Samsung!

Customer Review: Good one at this price range
This is definitly a good buy at a price of ?200. Though you can get a HD camera with a bit higher price, definitly you will miss the SONY brand and the quality that comes with it. The Picture quality at bright light is awesome. Pros; good picture quality Handy and cute good Zoom Cons: No inbuilt memory for photo’s. Message you get when you use a non-sony dvd’s ofcourse not a single blank dvd that comes along with the package!! Overall, I should say, its a good buy. ~Mothish Babu~
Customer Review: Best camcoder ever
I had a tape camcoder; I think it was panasonic until it broke a few months ago and since then a camcoder has been on my wish list. I bought the previous camera two years and it cost me the same price as this one now. This camcoder is probably the most you get for your money out of all the cameras out there. The video quality is excellent and you can film in widescrean and surround sound. There are many modes that you can use like sports mode, potrait mode, macro mode (which is excellent) and, my favourite, night mode. This is like the effect they use on the Blair Witch Project and Most Haunted. It is an effect where you can film in pitch black with an infared light and it will pick up the areas you are pointing at without you being able to see it with your own eyes. It’s great. It is simple to use apart from I had a bit of trouble with figuring out how to get my CDs converted to be able to use on the computer and on my editing software (Magix). But once I got it it is quite simple although it is quite a bit of hassle just to be able to get one small piece of film on there. Overall a great product

Customer Review: Jury’s Out
My experience with this product has not been great. I bought at the ?200 price, I was initially very disappointed with the battery charge, when recording in normal mode, I got nothing like the time specifified in the manual for a full charge. Then, on my 3rd recording, the camcorder developed a fault, with the DVD-RW going round continually when you power on, and there was NOTHINGA i could do to stop it, remove the disk etc, tried everything, including removing batteries. So I had to send it back. I hope I have not been silly, in asking for a new camcorder rather than a refund, but hope springs eternal. By the way, my disappointment is with Samsung - amazon were outstanding, not only the good price which everyone notes here, but this is the first return I have made in c 7 years of custom, and I was super-impressed with how easy it is to make a return. First class service
Customer Review: Great functions let down by poor image quality.
Firsly i bought this camcorder due to the other three reviews hoping that i had made the right choice. Unfortunately i got a camcorder that was defective when recording to dvd. There was a 1mm distorted line at the bottom of the recording. no such line when recording to the memory card, weird. i also found that the picture quality was not up to scratch. maybe i have been spoilt by using a panasonic mini DV prior to buying this but the image was just grainy. like i said maybe i just had a defective unit but thought i would share my views. have returned the unit to amazon for a full refund and have started my hunt again for a good quality camcorder.
