Sony ACC-DVDP DVD Camcorder Starter Kit (Compact Case, Spare Battery, DVD+RW Disc)

Sony ACC-DVDP DVD Camcorder Starter Kit (Compact Case, Spare Battery, DVD+RW Disc)
Customer Review: Can be bought much cheaper now.
I know it`s almost a year since the last review but there are lots of these kits still around at a very good price. I`ve just bought one brand new on Ebay for ?5.50. A fantastic bargain. The case is good quality and as it includes the spare battery plus a +RW Disc then there`s no reason not to buy one now. I`m almost tempted to get another one just for the battery and Disc.

Customer Review: Extremely over priced - so make sure you buy it here
This is extremely over priced for what you get. Having said that though here is where you should buy it if you want it; it is 79.99 in Argos and shopping around i’ve seen it priced higher.

For the first 2-3 weeks the little DVD case is ok. After that it doesn’t last that long as you’ll have to buy a new one because it only holds 4 DVDs.

Overall, this will be good for your handycam especially the new spare battery you’ll get with it.

I’ve bought a bigger camcorder bag and DVD case now, though.

So to round up, this is a great kit to buy to start you off but you’ll probably end up buying replacements for your camcorder.

My advice is to buy it even though its really over-priced.

Customer Review: Nice camera, good VFM, eats batteries.
I bought one of these for my son, he’s had tremendous use out of it, even before we went to Italy, he was making animations for 3 hours at a stretch. The photos are good, no silly problems, good contrast and excellent accuracy of colour in good or medium light. Only thing is, like all other small cameras, the chip is not very fast, so you have to have a firm grip and a steady hand in low light conditions, (indoors in the Vatican, flash banned etc.) as the exposures are quite slow. The screen on the back is lovely and big, but isn’t easy to see in bright, Mediterranean daylight. Granted, nor are most, my wife’s ?250 Canon was just as bad. I use an SLR, so didn’t have any problems in that area :) Other people have criticised the battery life, if you use alkaline cells, you should get a couple of hours continuous use out of a fresh pair, or you could look for those new lithium batteries that are specially made for cameras, but twice the price. My best advice is to buy Ni-MH batteries and a good charger. The current consumption is 600mA plus the flash, so Ni-cads (800mAH) will give 1 hour or so, even when new, but high capacity Ni-MH (2100mAH) will give you over 3 hours. I use an “Evercharge” intelligent charger, which was ?32 from somewhere else, but charges almost anything and doesn’t overcharge. Given our lad’s hobby of making Lego animations, this has been essential. I’d buy another as a spare for myself, if I had the money. I’d give

Customer Review: Camera is excellent
I bought this camera after my old Sony DVD camera was stolen at Heathrow when my baggage went missing for 3 days. I eventually got the smashed baggage returned sans camera. Moral: always carry cameras in your hand luggage. This camera is lighter than my old one but has an enhanced set of features including the addition of a wonderful touch screen interface, which I really like. It does not take still photos to disk; you need to plug in a memory card to take stills. My old camera allowed stills to be taken directly to disk. This is no concern to me as I have a digital camera for stills and I also use Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11 plus that allows stills to be created from any frame of video footage, a nice feature. The camera takes good quality pictures; supports wide screen and dolby 5.1 surround sound. The battery could be punchier so I will probably purchase an additional battery in due course, something I also did with my old camera. Why 4 stars? I have alluded to this in a sense by my mention of the VideoStudio software that I purchased separately from the camera; this is because the software that comes with this camera is dire. It works in a very limited sort of way but that is all it does. The editing features are virtually non existent except for simple video trimming. This is in contrast to my old camera which was provided with ImageMixer video editing software, which was not bad, though not in the same league as VideoStudio 11 plus. This camera is excellent, nice and light and easy to handle with a very intuitive touch screen interface to control it but get proper video editing software, such as VideoStudio to get the most out of it.
Customer Review: Easy to use Camcorder
I have owned a Camcorder for the past 10 years and decided it was time to upgrade to a new model / type to take advantage of the new smaller units now available. Before deciding what type of Camcorder to buy ( Tape / DVD / Hard Drive ) I decided to use the Amazon site for feedback and re search. I finally decided to buy the Sony DCR-DVD306 Handycam DVD Camcorder. I have now owned the Camcorder for 1 month and have been pleased with the all round performance. The camcorder is easy to operate, small and light to carry and produces good results in both good and low light conditions. The quality of still pictures is not particularly great if taken in ‘zoom’ mode. I was concerned over comments about the controls being difficult to operate, I have not found any difficulty, I have also found transfering the recordings by either PC or through the TV fairly straight forward although it took me some time to set up the transfer the first time. The Camcorder is not supplied with a very powerfull battery or a seperate charger, these are available from Sony after registration at a 25% discount, you will need a more powerfull battery if not a fast charger, accessories are a bit pricy even after the discount ! Overall I am pleased with the product, functions, quality and performance.
