Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 (PC)

Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 (PC)
Customer Review: Worth persevering - unless you have a short fuse
Good stuff first:
The user interface is easy to pick up, and very intuitive. The range of tasks you can do is wide enough to satisfy most users, and the tutorials are clear without being over-burdened with detail.
Output quality is great.
Now the bad:
Unless you drive a graphics workstation, the lag on anything - and I mean even the slightest adjustment - will drive you crazy. I have 1Gb RAM, and 2GHz processor, and a 256Mb graphics card, and each time I move the cursor a few frames along the timeline the program stops to think for up to two minutes.
Next, the reason I bought a Sony product was to get around the stupid Sony format that the transferred files are in when you download them from the DV to the PC. You know, Video_TS etc.
This application doesn’t recognise these files!
So you still need to do that nonsense of saving the files without having finalised the disk, and them re-save them with a different file extension, ie save as .wma instead of .vob.
Why, you dumb-bells, did you not fix this, so I can use my SONY camcorder with the SONY software…
However, once I get over the angst of this latter issue, and once I get my new speed machine, this is the best sub-?50 editing suite, IMHO.

Canon MV750i Digital Camcorder [Mini DV , 22 x Optical , DV in/out]
22x optical/360x digital zoom with electronic image stabiliser
Customer Review: Highly recommended.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this Mini DV camera. It’s an absolute delight to use, from the moment you take it out of the box. Its controls are intuitive and easy to understand, it’s comfortable (and not too heavy) to hold, and the quality of what it produces is superb. It’s easy to connect it to a computer using the cables and software that are provided. I’ve never had any technical problems with it, and it’s very rare that I’ve needed to refer to the manual to find out how to do something - which is pretty impressive considering the wide range of features the camera has. Overall, I was extremely pleased to have purchased this device, and would recommend it to anyone. It’s clearly not the cheapest on the market, by a long shot, but you get what you pay for, and this is really good value for money, in my opinion.
Customer Review: Brilliant for the money
I wanted a replacement camcorder that would that was uncomplicated to use and yet took quality pictures that I could transfer to my computer. As usual I did my research online and read the reviews of several others and found this one good value for money. I wasn’t disappointed with this neat little camcorder which is only slightly bigger than my digital camera, it is extremely simple to use and comfortable to hold, the controls such as record and zoom are within easy reach your fingers. The x22 optical zoom is really useful when you can’t get close to your subject. Being able to take still pictures with the SD card means you don’t have to take your camera as well if your short on space. It also has enough features to keep those who like to play around with pictures happy. The only downside I have found so far is that the instruction book explains in more detail how to transfer the still pictures to your computer rather than the video tape, to me it should be the other way round for a camcorder. I would recommend the Canon 750i.

Customer Review: Does it work with iMac or not??
I am looking to upgrade my camcorder to the Sony, and i am buying an iMac so want to make sure the camera works with the imac. I see 3 conflicting reviews for this camera - can someone please tell me if it works with iMac for stills and video It seems that Apple and more importantly Sony do not comment on this simple thing! I would be eternally grateful! thanks
Customer Review: Small in size but big on performance
The Good:world’s smallest full HD camcorder, fits easily in shirt/trouser pocket, easy to operate even if left handed, works well even in low light, well made.Excellent auto focus and superb lens.Lots of manual settings. The Bad:quite expensive, case and HDMI lead not supplied,no mic or earphone jacks,no shoe,a bit heavy for its size and ugly to my eyes, uses expensive sony memory cards. If you want a really small camcorder that shoots excellent video and quite good stills under almost any conditions then look no further as this camcorder out performs any similar/slightly larger size from Sanyo or Panasonic. This is especially so under low level lighting,eg. in bars ,restaurents or clubs.Even though video noise increases it is never too serious and the auto focus still locks on.A Panasonic sd9 or other camcorders in the same range are very poor under these low light conditions with serious video noise and a Sanyo will suffer from a hunting auto focus. The touch sensitive screen is easy to use and there are a large number of manual settings should you need them. However if point and shoot is what you want this camcorder copes superbly under all conditions.I actually give it 4.5 stars.Do not hesitate buy one you will not regret it.
