Customer Review: Bad picture quality
Being a chap that trusts Sony products I was really looking forward to owning the DSC-T200 and assumed that Sony would have made a camera that produced fantastic photos as well as all the bells and whistles. Boy was I wrong! This is a great camera, apart from the fact that the picture quality is totally rubbish. My previous camera was a DSC-P200 (7.2MP) and this utterly trounces the T200 on picture quality. Sony have clearly upped the megapixels but thrown away all that extra data by compressing the image to two thirds the size of the images produced by the P200, what a waste! This produces dull, noisy images with a lot of compression artifacts to try and remove some of the noise. The manager in the Sony Center Croydon quite belligerently commented that in order to get the smile detection, touchscreen etc Sony has compromised on picture quality. Totally unacceptable! Don’t by this if you value your photos.
Customer Review: Great Camera
Received this camera yesterday. What little time I have had to use it I can honestly say it’s great. Previous camera a sony DSC-P200 that was 7MP and took great shots, and sad to see it go, but going to a good home. Only changed camera to upgade after seeing the DSC-W200 with 12MP in store. I read many reviews on the DSC-W200, particullary one on CNET and did not like what I read, considering its a Sony, so then considered the DSC-T200. All reviews I found on the DSC-T200 were good so bit the bullet and bought one. Amazon had a great price coupled with a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. Prior to purchasing I went to a local store for hands on, on both the DSC-W200 and DSC-P200 to confirm my choice and also to haggle the price. Best deal I could get was ?299.99 for camera and case. Eventually purchased the camera, spare battery, screen protector (a must)and a case from Amazon all for just over ?300.00 if you look into it. Thanks Amazon. Overall the camera is easy to use once you get to know where the menus are and it takes great shots. Touch screen not to everyones taste though, but i find it great and worht the money on amazon. My only one negative comment is that Sony have not really produced a semi hard protective case, so I have ordered the same case as my wife who own a Sony DSC-T9 as the camera fits the same case.
