Customer Review: Fantastic little camera
Bought the Canon A570IS as a pocket camera, for when I did not want to use my DSLR kit, as the internet reviews were good and it had the specific features I wanted (manual exposure, image stabilisation, takes AA batteries, viewfinder among others).

I have not been disappointed as it has performed excellently in all aspects and have now bought an underwater case to use when I go on holiday. Has many facilities that make it a pleasure to use and produces excellent photographs. The noise levels at high ISO equivalents are not the best, but that being said it has enabled me to take photographs that would not have been possible with a 40D and enormous lens because of space, inconvenience or just not having it with me!

It is unfortunate that some manufacturing defects have tarnished the overall score.

Customer Review: battery problems
This camera has it seems a chronic problem with batteries:even with brand new alkaline or rechargeable batteries the low battery indicator comes on either immediately or after a very small number of shots taken. There’s much discussion of this problem online, so it appears to be quite widespread. Canon claim its not a hardware problem…hmmm. Caveat emptor

Customer Review: Warning - not at all Mac compatible
This camera is not at all Mac compatible. I’m not referring to the software on the CD, but the camera itself. Although it has a USB connection, a Mac will not be able to detect the camera or any photos in it. This is quite an achievement, considering that every other digital camera I have seen can be connected to a Mac. I presume it does not comply with the USN Mass Storage specification.

Is there a risk in having a magnet so close to the camera? It may not affect the memory card but what about the motors in the optical system etc?

Got this along with the camera from Amazon. Chuffed with the camera but very pleased with the case. Nice quality feel and look to it and much better for having a magnet rather than velcro. Every time I used my last case it felt like everyone within a mile would turn and look at me every time I opened the case! Good value and a perfect fit.
