I’ve just come back from a safari trip to Tanzania and I am VERY impressed with this camera. I’ve got fantastic shots using the zoom at it’s full, impressive 18x with no tripod and am really pleased with it’s performance. Colour, quality etc. are all great - I’m still getting to grips with the many settings, but I bought this hoping that it would be a step up from a compact whilst not demanding the know-how of a D-SLR and that’s exactly what it is.

Customer Review: Do not buy this camera for the zoom
Having previously owned a Fuji S5500 and my wife having an S5600, I was keen with anticipation to replace my broken S5500 with the new super zoom Fuji model, especially, as I spend alot of time photographing wildlife and particularly birds.

My excitment soon turned to dismay as no matter what I did with this camera, the quality of image produced at the full range of the zoom was simply shocking.

I took the camera back to the retailer and asked that it be tested against the Panasonic & Olympus models as the store agreed that the images were very grainy and that purple fringing was an issue.

On the plus side, landscape , portrait & macro shots are all very good

Eventually, we agreed a swap with the Panasonic DMC FZ18.

There’s simply no comparison. If you want an 18 x zoom camera, pay a little extra for the Panasonic and don’t waste your money on this.
