Samsung NV20 Digital Camera - Metal Body (12MP, 3 x Optical Zoom)
Samsung completes its famous NV (New Vision) range of digital cameras with the NV20. Undoubtedly the highest-performing camera in the group, the NV20 is equipped with a 12 million CCD sensor and top-of-the-line Schneider-Kreuznach 3x optical zoom lens for taking amazing snaps at every turn. The NV20 also combines Fast ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) technology with 3200 ISO sensitivity so photos turn out clear and natural-looking in any light. And of course, it still has the famous Smart Touch intuitive interface for easy control of your camera?s functions! The NV20 comes with the exclusive ?Samsung Biz Reader? feature, letting you photograph a business card and store it in file format which you can then transfer to your PC. The face detection mode is particularly useful for your group photos, as it recognises up to 9 smiles and naturally reduces the effects of red eye. The ACB system automatically balances the contrast of a photo to improve the quality of snaps taken in backlighting. Finally, this camera can be charged simply using a mains adapter or USB cable! With the same, stylish design common to all NV cameras, the NV20 has the advanced features and performances needed to take it above and beyond the rest!

Customer Review: At last - something serious in a small body!!!
I bought this camera for my brother for his birthday. He is a bit of a photographer so I wanted to get something that is ‘everyday’ useful to him. He absolutely loves it. My advice, if you are interested in this camera, is don’t underestimate it. This is not just a point and shoot camera. It is easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of brilliant technology in the NV20. The smart touch is a revolution to the camera menus. It means you can access everything quickly which is needed with the amount of stuff on this. No more menu, then sub-menu, then sub-sub-menu etc! Boring! My brother has chunky digits too and uses it fine so I find it strange that people struggle with this feature. It takes a while to get used to but is the best gadget I’ve seen in a long time. I can’t rave about it enough.
In photography the lens is everything! People get hung up about megapixels but that is not what is the most important thing. So the NV20 comes with Schneider Kreuznach lens - that’s very good in the photography world. Saying that though, it does also have 12MP so you can still blow up those cheesy photos of flowers for the wall canvas!
The NV20 has a fast processer which means there isn’t all that annoying time delay when taking a photo - I think this is very needed when using the advanced shake reduction modes. Some cameras lag terribly but this is quite quick.
If you get this camera - try messing with the light balance. It’s really clever with all the options as to which type of lighting you have in a room. And definately get to grips with the red eye fix. I love that technology being on the camera so that you can remove red eye after you’ve taken a picture. My nephew always has terrible red eye in photos and I cannot be bothered to edit every photo in photoshop.
Bad points? There has to be some! Sorry! The design is a little ‘man-like’ for me. I do like black cameras as I think they look quite smart but I’m not a retro kind of person but I guess this is very subjective. Also, I bought this a while ago and paid a lot more which is really annoying! But I see it has come down in price now.
I definately recommend this camera to someone upgrading to a more serious compact camera.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P200 Digital Camera [7MP, 3 x Optical Zoom]

Customer Review: Not what I expected from Sony
If you are after a point and click camera then do not buy this model - the auto mode has a mind of it’s own and I would say that if I take 100 pictures, I end up deleting at least 50% because of blurring and incorrect flash function. I appreciate that these can probably be corrected by messing about with the manual functions but in reality who wants to be changing these settings when they are trying to snap general family pictures which is what I use mine for? The camera is slim, well built and when the auto function gets it right, the pictures and colours are great, it’s just a real shame that you have to reel off about eight shots of something just to be sure you’ve got a good one.
Customer Review: 15 months old and has failed to operate
Having made enquiries at various camera outlets’ I am informed that it would appear Sony has a problem with these cameras, mine in peticular will not operate when the power button is pressed. I am told it would be cheaper to by a new one than have it repaired and its only 15 months old. The new one will definitey not be a Sony
