Customer Review: Great idea, execution left wanting
The concept, styling, weight, size and battery life are fantastic, but there are aspects of this product that leave you flat.
This type of camcorder is the way of the future for all of us who want quick family holiday snaps and especially, videos. Tiny size, incredibly low weight, long battery life allow you to literally put it in your top pocket and when necessary, take it out and start shooting in a few seconds.
The SHQ video would be great if I could view it on anything but the TV. Check that your PC’s video card has codecs and is up to the task of rendering HD H264 MPEG4 video in real-time before you set off! My work PC was almost up to the task and I can say the quality looked good, even though the video hiccupped.
The 7.1MP camera produces good pics, but the video, which is its prime function has a few issues. First and foremost is the autofocus. It is incredibly slow to auto-focus. It has a face-tracker function, but the model for this must have been a short-sighted hedgehog, because even in good light it takes way too long to focus. Then there’s the auto-focus motor noise which, while low in level, is audible in quiet surroundings. I find it unforgiveable to compromise great electronics with el-cheapo mechanics. On the issue of mechanics, the power and SD slot cover are flimsy, and just waiting to be broken.
The camcorder’s performance is not wonderful in low light (e.g an incandescant bulb at night), but I guess I expected this, and so I wasn’t disappointed by it’s performance; in fact, I was a little surprised it did so well. I haven’t tried the still-flash yet, but it looks a little dinky.
Overall, this is a potentially fantastic product, provided Sanyo get their act together on the focusing issue. Would I buy it again? Hmmmm, maybe I’d wait for the next model, but then I’d be missing all those shots of the kids that I would never bother taking with my “grown-up”, kilo-plus, house-brick-sized, digi-camcorder.

Customer Review: Crashed
Camera is constantly crashing when being used. we have to send ours back to the manufacturer in order to get it fixed and we only used it twice My daughter had alot of fun with it when it is functional. Although it doesn’t have the games that was on the older version.
Customer Review: A great product!
This camera is excellent. I saw some reviews that criticize the quality of the on-camera display, but my 5 year old loves this camera, and as a result, I love it too. It is very durable, sturdy and I dare say kid proof. The quality of the pics in high resolution is about as good as I expected when I consider that my daughter loves to see that her pictures are downloaded to our computer. She isn’t picky about the resolution of course. This camera is a great product, an excellent learning tool for taking pictures. Depending on how you look at it the only downside to the limited on-board memory is that in hi-res it only takes about 20 pictures. The upside to this is that you don’t have to download and organize that many pics. I purchased a 1MB memory card for $7.00 so now she can take pictures till her heart’s content. I am glad I bought the camera, but not quite as glad as my child. Have fun!

Customer Review: Great quality pictures for a great price!
Before I bought this Canon SD850, I had a Sony Cybershot T10 and I noticed a huge difference with the quality of the pictures! The Canon took great pictures compared to the Sony. I had to keep adjusting the settings for the Sony but with the Canon, the automatic setting did great in just about every single shot. I also love the feature that isolates a certain one color while making everything else black and white. This Canon is certainly a great deal for a great camera! Many people commented on how nice my pictures and videos came out!
Customer Review: Good enough for an Inspection Department
This camera has great features. By far the best feature that I have seen on a camera of this size is the macro feature. You can get incredibly close to an object and the camera picks it up. Our company uses this camera in our inspection dept. to document small blemishes on components. I have not seen another camera that can pick up detail at such close range.
