How do I choose the right size wall mount bracket for my LCD/Plasma TV? First, check the back of your TV and find the four threaded holes (if there is no threaded holes or less then four holes, then the TV is not classified as wall-mountable); Secondly, measure the horizontal and vertical distances between them (in mm); Now select a wall mount bracket with dimensions 40mm or more longer in both horizonal and vertical directions. The S-3000 series releases a new range of high definition ready LCD TV?s which are to feature the ?Bravia? Theatre Sync system which send signals through the HDMI ports enabling the home entertainment to be controlled by a single button press. This also results in the LCD TV itself being switched on as well as audio equipment and the Blu-Ray Disc player, DVD player or HD DVD player that is connected. This new range has 3 HDMI connectors for the ultimate in connectivity and through these connectors signals will be sent via all hardware and will power them up or switch them off with one button on the Bravia Theatre Sync remote.

The BRAVIA S-3000 series will be available in 30, 40 and 46 inch models and the D-3000 series will be available in 46inch.

The Sony BRAVIA S-Series also uses fully digital amplification for a low-noise, hiss-free output through its integrated stereo speakers thanks to SRS TruSurround XT technology.

The Sony BRAVIA V-Series have a few extras not found in the S-Series, and hence costs a little more. The Sony V-Series uses Sony Live Colour Creation technology which gives a boosted spectrum of colour providing truer reds and greens.

It also has Wide Colour Gamut (WCG) CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) which as well as being a mouthful is an exclusive Sony design employing improved light-emitting phosphors which completely transforms the characteristics of the screen.

Customer Review: Excellent value for money
Having missed out on this tv when on offer with Woolworths, I still bought it at 480 through amazon and its well worth it and still a great deal. Excellent delivery, so easy to set up, best picture I have ever had and better than my old sony CRT (trinitron?). Sound is great. Very good deal on a Sony Bravia and the slate grey colour is perfect - not too shiny! Buy it !!!
Customer Review: Brilliant but….
Very happy overall with this TV. It looks great, is easy to set up and has nice onscreen menus with excellent sound. However I’ve noticed that slow moving or still images have portions move at times. You might expect LCDs to show problems with fast action but no problem there - it’s great for sports. I’d be interested to see if anyone else has noticed piecs of onscreen faces distort and then re-resolve? If I can sort that with a setting option I’d gladly rate it 5*

Sony KDL32S3000 - 32” Widescreen Bravia HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview

November 25th, 2007

The Sony BRAVIA X-Series and BRAVIA W-Series use a BRAVIA ENGINE EX, an upgrade that increases the resolution by a factor of up to four, doubling the number of vertical lines and horizontal pixels. What this does is give an image with an unprecedented degree of detail and clarity, which raises SDTV to a completely new level. Sony calls this process ?Digital Reality Creation?.

Customer Review: TV perfect ~ small problem on the delivery
First the bad news ~ ordered this on the Thursday and paid extra for express service to get a delivery on Saturday a.m. Tracked the parcel all the way to within 15 miles of home where it arrived at 0346 on the Saturday morning which is where it stopped until Monday because City Link dont deliver on Saturdays, as far as they are concerned next day delivery means next business day. So had to take time off work on Monday to take delivery. In fairness Amazon refunded the carriage charge without any argument, but that isn’t the real answer, why promise delivery on a Saturday and then use a carrier that doesn’t provide that service ? Anyhow now for the good news ~ the TV is superb ~ easy to set up ~ connect the ariel, plug it in and it pretty much does everything else for you, picture quality is fantastic, sound very good, and the overall feel of the thing is up to Sony quality standards. Really good value for money and a three year guarantee !!!!
Customer Review: Fantastic Television
I live in the Isle of Man and received my Sony 32″ TV in 4 days. The picture and sound are outstanding and playback of DVD’s via my Sony audio unit is unbeleivable. My TV signal is via sky but the T.V. will not tune any digital channels in only terestial, does this mean that there are no digital signals yet available from Satelite or am I not tuning the set correctly. Looking forward very much to HD when it arrives. Colin Gerrard

Quality and reliability with in built digital tuner
I was looking for a TV to go in the kitchen and nearly bought the Samsung as it looked great but the poor sound output let it down. My Sony is used for digital radio too and I already have a Sony digital box for my main TV. That has been 100% reliable (unlike the two Nokias I exchanged at John Lewis) and the TV looks as if it is made to the same standards. Very good sound in a large noisy kitchen, excellent picture quality, an electronic programme guide that list both radio and TV and allows easy switching between channels. Very easy to set up and takes up minimal space in the kitchen. Can’t see why it is worth bothering with non digital TV and having to buy a separate box. Digital picture quality and the extras all work intuitively. A real pleasure to own.

Excellent second TV
As with all Sony products, this one comes out on top for a small extra TV. So easy to set up,if you have Freeview already. Accepts analogue, so no problem in weak digital areas. Remote well set out with all controls easy to use even in the dark. Looks great too.

Great picture, great reception and great sound
I had a first generation analogue LCD (LG) for the kitchen/breakfast room and thought it was about time I updated for digital. My main TV is a large screen HD LCD with picture via V+ cable box, so I was expecting to be disappointed with this little Sony - but wow, it impressed straight out of the box. Set up was a doddle and the tuner seemed able to squeeze every last digital station out of the ether, which given the so so reception area I live in was quite remarkable. Its also very convenient to be able to switch from digital stations to analogue (so that I can watch ITV in analogue as they haven’t gone digital yet). The picture quality and sound are excellent and frankly there’s nothing I can fault on this splendid TV - it does exactly what is says it will and the price is quite reasonable given its a Sony.

I doubt you can buy it a cheaper price - given delivery is free - well done Amazon!

Customer Review: Sony KDL-40X3500
Fantastic TV, its the best set Sony have produced yet, however, in their wisdom, Sony have decided to fit this set with two cooling fans which you can clearly hear when the set is on. I would strongly recommend visiting a Sony Centre or any other electrical shop where you can see/listen to the set while it is switched on to see if you can live with the noise coming from these fans, it really does let the set down.

Customer Review: Fantastic..
Was looking for a 2.1 system to get rid of all the cabling i had, Decided on this after reading the other reviews. Very pleased with it. Looks amazing. Sounds amazing. Recommended.
Customer Review: Sounds great; looks great.
I think Kevin’s review does a great job of explaining the technical issues regarding this product, so I won’t bother duplicating that here; suffice to say he’s absolutely correct in what he says. Instead, having had the unit for about 4 months at this point, I’ll add some more detail regarding what it’s like to live with. Firstly, it really does sound great and totally transforms your viewing experience. However I don’t like the fact that there’s no equalisation option built in. The sound is a little bright for my tastes and I’d really like the option of controlling that a little - but that’s not possible, which I was a little surprised about. I mean, how many hi-fi systems do you buy that don’t at least have “Bass and Treble” adjustment? C’mon Sony - I have a radio in the shower that has that much! Secondly, the “rear” speakers have a tendency to distort at higher volumes (anything above half). At first I thought this was just a fault with my unit, but Sony replaced what I originally believed were defective speakers (great service from Sony BTW) but this made no difference - it just seems to be a limitation of the device. I should point out that “half” volume on this thing is still pretty darn loud, and it’s only specific frequencies that cause the issue (particularly sustained female choirs and string sounds - think Lord of the Rings music just after Gandalf “dies” in Moria) so it doesn’t cause me any problems during day-to-day listening, but if you’re a hi-fi purist wanting to experience great movie sound at high volumes I’d urge caution. Thirdly, the difference this unit made to the general clutter of gadgets around my TV was enormous. It has some really simple but effective cable controls built in that make an amazing difference to the amount of wires running behind your TV system. My partner’s a stickler for neatness and even she was impressed! So if you’re constantly having to explain the tangle of wires to a loved one this is definitely the solution for you. I have a Sky box, a Nintendo Wii, an Xbox 360 and a PS3 all plugged in and it’s still very neat and tidy. Fourthly, it looks great. Everyone who comes in to the room comments on how cool the TV stand looks, and when they realise the sound system’s built in to it they’re amazed. Fifthly, (is that even a word?) a niggle. The display screen is on the top of the unit, under the glass top. On the plus side this looks fantastic and definitely adds to the sexy design. On the negative side it’s impossible to tell which sound source is selected from across the room or even, indeed, whether the unit is switched on or not. It gets tedious pretty quickly having to stand up and walk across the room just to find out if the unit is on. Sony, if you’re reading this, can you *please* put a tiny light on the front when you next upgrade it? That way at least I’d know it was definitely on when I’m trying to figure out why I can see my TV picture, but can’t hear anything. So, overall I’d highly recommend this unit to anyone, but particularly those who are a bit short of space and/or don’t have the option of running speaker cable round to the rear speakers. The negative points don’t spoil the experience enough to get in your way, but I’ll knock a star off the score just to give Sony something to aim for next time! Oh, and one last thing - make sure you have someone to help when you get it delivered. This thing weighs a ton. If you think this would be a good home cinema solution for your room then go ahead and buy it; you won’t be disappointed. Hope that helps! —

I can’t wait!!!
Looked a bargain at Amazon’s price!!! Went onto Woolworths website and bought one for ?399 which was limited to 1 per customer. 10 minutes later and they have run out of stock, so I got there just in time.
Thank you Simpsonicman!

Buy This
If you want this TV then get it from WoolWorths only ?399!!! While Stocks Last

a disappointment
After reading all the other reviews below i was very dissapointed by the picture quality of the set - even to the point of returning it for a replacement.! the picture clarity compared to my old CRT is very poor with little definition, i’d wait till the technology improves before changing. though the unit looks the part on the wall and sound is excellent, if lacking depth.

Customer Review: Good but please no more Imperial fixings!
The TV mount looks very good and the 15 degrees of tilt makes it the best TV mount for the price. Bargain at ?20, however post and package was ?10 but still at ?30 a very good buy!!! The reason for only 3stars is that the TV mount is obviously not British and isn’t in metric but imperial. At first I thought this would be no trouble, however I soon realised that the holes for the screw fixings needed to be 9.4mm or 3/8inch and because its hard to get imperial drill pieces nowadays the only option I had was 10mm. This meant the screw plugs provided were too small for the hole and so moved about. With the help of some no nails I managed to get the plugs not to move, and once everything was tightened up the TV mount was very solid. The TV mount is likely to be American and all I can say is GET WITH THE TIMES, who uses imperial nowadays. Overall a very cheap, strong and smart TV mount.

SONY HDMI High-Definition Multimedia Interface

November 19th, 2007

This is a high-bandwidth video connection that carries digitized RGB picture information and can support copy-protection methods. The HDMI specification allows for the presentation device and display device to agree on an optimal picture size and resolution to ensure the highest quality picture automatically. The multi-pin HDMI interface transfers uncompressed digital video with copy protection and multichannel audio. Using an adapter, HDMI is backward-compatible with most current DVI connections.

And with HDMI your BRAVIA LCD TV can be linked to other future HD sources, such as Blu-Ray players, next generation games consoles and HD camcorders

What a fantastic TV. Picture quality amazing, sound fantastic. What a great price i got it for too. Amazon could not be beat, even with the ?[...] delivery charge added on ! I have not experienced any clicking noise as reported in a previous review. I do not leave the TV on standby. I swith it off with the touch button on top of the Tv itself. Remote works well with such a wide range of settings. This would be my only criticism. It would be good if Sony published recommended settings. I feel i can change so many settings on it i don’t know which one to change to get the best best picture. I did email Sony and still have no reply 1 month later. All in all a brilliant television.
Customer Review: Great TV, but little support from SONY
Beautiful TV, with a brilliant, crisp image. The speaker system integrated into the TV is satisfactory, but if you are willing to shell out thi$ much for a TV, I would expect you should look for an additional sound system. This raises the overall cost of the package, but well worth having the strong bass of a subwoofer to compliment the great picture you have here. I’ve also looked at the “V” series from Sony, but can only see a VERY marginal improvement over this TV. When you compare the specs side by side, I don’t know why you would want to spring for the more expensive “V”. The remote works well too. However, I’ve noticed a strange clicking sound from the back of the unit when left turned off…..every 2 minutes or so. I researched the SONY website in detail and couldn’t find any reference to the problem. The manual indicates that one should unplug the unit when not in use. I find this to be a highly unreasonable requirement on the consumer. Also note that the support from Sony’s website is poor, and they don’t even accept email queries for problems like my “clicking” noise. So yes, the Sony brand is top shelf, but if you do have a problem, be prepared to have little support or means of contacting Sony….

Customer Review: Love it…
Many negative reviews below, BUT (fingers crossed) I’ve had mine up and running a week now and - well, yes, it’s a bit slow, and no, it’s not completely silent, but I still LOVE it. No messing with DVDs, you can see exactly how much room you have on the hard drive, I can pause and rewind TV whenever, and you can be recording 2 programmes at once while watching something else you recorded all at the same time (where else can you get that?)! Channel 5 reception not fantastic but also never was with my last freeview box, so it’s not really bothering me. I may one day be tempted into cable because it’s pretty much picture perfect ALL the time, but I’ll still have it hooked up to this machine for recording. I had a true electrickery anorak (and perfectionist) come round the other day and he made very impressed noises about how excellent it was for the price, so I’ve got no complaints. Think the answer is to not have it in your bedroom if you’re a light sleeper. See also review below by Allan Kelly below from 12 Aug 07, very helpful.
Customer Review: Worst Sony Product ever - and that is being kind!
I love Sony - or did at least until I bought this. After having a successful introduction to Freeview via a Daewoo unit my hubby bought me for the bedroom, we decided to ditch Sky and go for Freeview in the livingroom. I saw some of the reviews regarding the Sony, but thought they had got it wrong. After all, Sony were great weren’t they? Got it all plugged together okay, got it switched on and then heard the fan from hell. Now, we live in a detached house and have the telly up loud - and I can still hear the fan going. The 3am download it does is no laughing matter either - horrendous fan noise which sounds more like my pc when its running at full pace doing the virus scan - this goes on for at least 30 minutes and seems to get longer every day. If you’re looking to buy this for the bedroom - forget it - the only thing you’re likely to get is a heart attack. Now don’t get me started about the EPG - it is the worst I have ever seen - menus are slow to load - not user friendly in any way - interesting that the Daewoo leaves Sony standing on all fronts for this. Picture quality is appalling - again the Daewoo leaves this well behind. In short, the only reason I give this unit 1 star is it hasn’t frozen yet. Take my advice and steer well clear.

40 inch LCD TV Wall Mount Bracket for HD Ready Sony Bravia KDL40U2000U

November 16th, 2007

The newest Sony LCD TV’s are the S-3000 series and D-3000 series.

The D-3000 range includes the fantastic one-touch Home Theatre control feature. Hook up all of your HD equipment, e.g. Blu-Ray Disc Player, HD DVD Player or Playstation 3 via the 3 HDMI connectors and operate them all in one go with a single press of the power button on the Bravia Theatre Sync remote. This will also turn down the TV sound and allow the Home Theatre audio take over.

The 24p True Cinema feature will display movies played through either a Blu-Ray player or HD DVD player, at the original 24 frames per second that they we originally captured in, resulting in the perfect image and sound you could possibly expect.

Another important factor in displaying the perfect image is the refresh rate and the D-3000 series doubles the standard refresh rate from 50Hz to 100Hz by using Motionflow +100 technology. This superbly intelligent image function allows the human eye to visualise image motion much smoother and more realistic than an image without the technology.

A new Sony range of HD LCD TV?s would not be complete without an enhanced colour reproduction system and with the D-3000 range a 10bit panel has been included compared to the 8bit panel that is usually offered. Thus resulting in 1024 shades of gradation so real life colours and textures really will show and therefore taking TV and Movie watching into a whole new level.

Customer Review: Brilliant tv
Ok, I actually got the 42 inch version of the telly, but I can’t find it on amazon, and i’m guessing they are the same except for the size. This is a great tv and I will now discuss the good and bad aspects to it. Good things: If you have digital tv or HD tv it is great quality. The dvd and playstation/xbox quality is brilliant. The tv looks great especially since it is so big. It has some of the best quality of the lcd tvs. It is easy to set up. The shopkeepers will try to sell you loads of extra features for it, but it is great without them and it doesn’t really need them. It is a great price for what you get Bad things: It isn’t brilliant quality without digital or HD tv. Extra features: These are not important and are quite expensive, I know some people will want them, and they are probably worth buying ( I didn’t bother though ). A lot of people have commented on the surround sound system, the regular sound of the tv doesn’t have anything wrong with it, but i’m sure the surround sound system is good for movies. This is probably one of the best lcd’s out and I highly reccomend it.
