What do you mean by the term Disqualification Period?
If you have received a motoring conviction and were disqualified from driving for a period of time, the length of the disqualification should be entered.
What is an Excess?
There are two types of excess that can be applied to an insurance policy - compulsory excess and voluntary excess.
Compulsory excess is an amount set by your insurer that you would pay in the event of a claim if your vehicle is lost, stolen or damaged. The amount of excess may vary depending on the type of claim. For instance, the excess may be ?100 if your vehicle is stolen, but only ?50 if your windscreen is damaged and needs replacing.
Opting for a voluntary excess enables you to keep your premiums down. This will be the amount that you opt to pay in the event of a claim, but it is in addition to any compulsory excess. The amount of voluntary excess that you select can only be agreed when you first take out or subsequently renew your policy.

Why should I protect my No Claim Bonus?

What claims must I disclose?
Please note that it is important to disclose any incidents or claims within the last 3 years, as we check all policies against the Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register. This is a database that holds details of claims made against previous motor insurance policies. Failure to disclose previous claims could invalidate your policy cover or claim.
Even if the loss was not covered under your policy (i.e. your vehicle was damaged and you only had TPFT cover), the total cost did not exceed your excess or you decided not to claim, these are still incidents and should be entered as a claim.

What is an at fault claim?
An “at fault” claim is one where you were not able to recover a policy excess and/or some or all of your no claims bonus has been disallowed.
