Customer Review: Superb machine
This is everything I would expect from Bosch. Firstly it is so straightforward to assemble from the box. Secondly it is a dream to use, - much quieter than any other we’ve used or seen in action and soooo effective in producing compostable or mulching material from wet or dry prunings, right up to 40mm in diameter. On the odd occasion it may clog up, the reverse motor facility clears it in a trice. Alternatively, if too much ‘wet’ material accumulates around the blade, just push through some dry, harder stalks / branches to quickly clear. Thirdly, the build quality is excellent and it is very stable in action without being so heavy and therefore difficult to move before & after use. Indeed it is easily moved by my slightly built wife. If you buy this machine, you could like us enjoy using it so much you may even be disappointed at how fast the vegetation you’ve pruned is gobbled up and then go hunting for more!
Customer Review: A doddle to use!
Even the instructions for getting the thing out off the box are well thought out.Assembly is straight forward. It seems to be well built,it is built in Germany(it says so on the box).Strange that their labour costs don`t stop them from manufacturing in their home country! The stop/start buttons could be bigger.Mine came with the bag. This does not fit very well on the two “hooks” on the machine,so certainly don`t buy one.Much better to use/buy a plastic storage box.Noise.Well the figures stated on Amazon are different to that stated on the box. However, its quieter than my cement mixer which is rated at 85db!Even when chomping its way through 3-4cm “branches”.So noise ,don`t worry about it.How good does it do the job? Well it eats it way through anything that goes through the slot. However,I`m pleasantly surprised at how well it chops up leafy, thin twiggy material.Every now and then it needs a woody branch to clean the cutting drum.Is it worth the money? Well it doesn`t require a huge leap of imagination to realise that something spinning at 1000`s RPM is noisey. This turns a leisurely 40 RPM, does a very good job, you can carry on a conversation at the same time and once you get the branch started ,it feeds itself. What more do want? Robert Bosch,I want a discount on a hedge trimmer I will probably buy from you!

Customer Review: Best gardening book you can buy!
This is the best gardening book I have ever seen. I bought it as a gift for my parents but borrowed it so much I had to buy my own! And, who cares about the spelling!! (see Lord Manley review!)
Customer Review: Very thorough garden planning book
A good book for those planning a garden. It has special sections on commonly cultivated plants and sections on how to troubleshoot. I planned my garden using this and it was a great help. Just a note that it’s not really for: - looking up a plant you’ve seen in a garden centre - identifying a mysterious thing you’ve got in your inherited garden If you want to do either of those, you need to use a different kind of book.

Customer Review: Great
In response to the above comment, firstly you are commenting on something you dont even own, secondly how are you even sure its this kind of speaker that you are hearing> thirdly the limiter is the volume control on the stereo and lastly, if you only live 2 doors away how are you so sure it can be heard 10 houses down? Onto a more serious note, they are a great buy if you just want to listen to music on the odd occasion in this country where the weather is actually good enough to be in the garden having a bbq. The sound is actually better than i imagined from something so cheap. Just be sure not to use them on full volume to avoid pissing off the person who reviewed before me.
Customer Review: Great
These speakers are fantastic if you really want to make your neighbours lives a misery!! I know it’s like badly behaved dogs - you should blame the owners, but why don’t they have a limiter on them. Our next door but one neighbours can be heard ten houses away across the main road - constantly!!

Customer Review: A superb time saver
Having read many reviews before buying a garden vac, thinking it was the best of a bad bunch. I can honestly say its the most valuable garden tool I have. It used to take me a morning clearing three lawns of leaves, but now it takes an hour and a half at most. The leaves must be dry and the grass fairly short or this can add to the time, but overall its a brilliant tool - and its never clogged up yet.
Customer Review: Pretty good
I have had my Black and decker leaf vac for about a year. I bought it on a recommendation from Gardener’s World magazine. Overall I am very happy with it. It certainly makes collecting leaves much lighter work and it shreds them as well. My only gripes are that it is a bit on the heavy side. Changing from the vacuum to the blower function can be a bit fiddly and it tends to clog up fairly quickly with wet leaves. It is ideal for my garden, but the lead is a bit short for anything big.

Customer Review: Amatuer Review! - Excellent
I am in no way a professional and both my wife and myself were extremely sceptical about buying this sort of machine with perhaps a tendency to clog up at the first sniff of a weed! However, with various bushes needed to be cut down to size we thought that we might as well give it a try. Up to date I have managed to clear a huge anount of various shrub with branches matching the recommended width (Along with some maybe a bit bigger). Having read other reviews I ensured that any flowery/leafy stuff was “pulled” through with thicker woody material and, so far, I have not had too much of a problem. It is sometimes easy to get a little complacent and try “bigger” items but, in all fairness, if anything does get jammed it is a matter of reversing the motor and allowing the items to be pulled through with a few attempts. On the whole I am extremely happy with this item - it has done all we set out to do. It is not a professional shredder for tree trucks but it saoon becomes a simple matter of acknoweldging what will go though and what will not. Particular problems I have found are with large knotted branches but even these will go thorugh ( if not too big) with a bit of “reverse and go”. This machine has worked for me and I am very happy with the results which are now rotting down nicely ready to be spread on the borders in a few weeks or so.
Customer Review: brilliant
Bosch was the first to use the worm screw to cut and shred larger tree branches.I have always bought Bosch tools, having had a few cheap and nasty brands in past years. The build quality is always good and solid.

Customer Review: Works well enough
I have a kerbside flower bed here in Cape Town, South Africa which dogs used to urinate and defecate on as they were being walked by their owners. This was not good for the flowers or those tending them. It was really amusing to see how this unit worked: after installation the dogs’ owners could be seen walking on the opposite side of the street from mine, led there by their dogs who now wanted to avoid my flower bed. It is a little awkward to get at when you need to replace batteries. I may install a mains power supply at some point. Here the weather can be blazing sun in summer and oppressively wet in winter. This unit survives both extremes.
Customer Review: Effective - but requires external power source.
The battery compartment is difficult too get to with you having to remove eight screws. There is a 12v external power inlet which has a cover on it which you have to snap off-and-on for access (I think one of the other reviewers has mistaken that as the control knob). The controls are under a flap on the left hand side. The unit can be off, on-constant or on-sensor with three different frequency settings. The device does work but really requires an external power source as otherwise it eats batteries.

Customer Review: Tastes as good as it looks!
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed leafing through this colourful and inspirational book. I never realised veg growing could be so much fun or that they could look so good. I’ve tried several of the ideas in my garden this year and have been pretty successful. In fact, considering I’ve only been gardening for a couple of years and I only have a tiny courtyard, I’m really very pleased. The ‘tumbling toms’ and ‘potted potager’ worked particularly well. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who enjoys growing their own food, especially if they are short of space. You won’t ever become self sufficient growing your veg in pots but every bit of homegrown produce is a bonus. Even if it doesn’t reach the plate, at least with the help of this book your veg will be great to look at. Can’t wait try out some more ideas next year. I’ve already started planning!
Customer Review: Magnificent book
I bought this book for myself after birthday hints failed and what a treat it is. It is one of those books that is both beautiful and inspiring, providing lots of practical suggestions for creating stunning displays of edible plants - vital wghen you have minimal space. The recipes are not prescriptive but form very sound guidance allowing you to adapt and experiment as you become more familiar with the plants and varieties out there. I already had some basic knowledge of growing before buying this book but have never considered growing things to be a particularly complex issue worthy of the song and dance created by some. Even for a beginner I would say that there is enough in this book to provide the basic grounding anyone needs to be relatively successful with their plantings. If you are inclined to get your nickers in a twist and need a basic Noddy’s guide then this is probably not the book for you - but then it doesn’t claim to be. There are plenty of books out there that will do the job instead. What this book does do is provide what many others don’t - ideas for creating beautiful rather than just practical displays and guidance as to what plants compement each other well. The food recipes are an unusual and welcome addition. I’ve got plans to recreate several of the schemes from this book next spring and in the meantime the book keeps coming off the bookshelves because it is just so lovely to look through.
